Re: January transfer window - rumours/signings/departures

Football has certainly evolved. I cant say I can tell what each of those roles even is but I'd be fairly certain that other clubs in this country will have a similar amount of staff. And a couple will have a lot more!

I reckon its bollocks per se, but in this cash strapped world of Covid -  all the more.
I'd love to hear what a certain JYM would make of it.

Its just another non-issue that is now deemed popular to use as a stick to beat the club with in my opinion.

Re: January transfer window - rumours/signings/departures

I'm certainly not knocking the club for the size of the non playing staff as football has become an industry more than the sport it used to be.
The debate would be at the level we operate at turnover £5m (roughly) is it affordable.

Pretty comprehensive list here, Smedz.

Thanks GC2, guess I'm a sh!t navigator but besides clicking on your link I still can't find it on the site

But now that I've seen it, that is indeed some list, there's over 70 names! Glad I don't pay the wages.

I'd be surprised if half that list isn't on a voluntary basis or maybe just a couple of hours a week. Pretty sure they won't all be full time employees.

Re: January transfer window - rumours/signings/departures

The Uni folk will probably be just consultancy briefs and a lot of the others are part time.
It's thon stupid Project Brave and what you have to do to get 'Elite' status to blame.

It's a hell of lot of people being the scenes across all football teams these days.  The analysts have persuaded many managers that it is better to pass the ball around aimlessy between Defenders rather than get it forward quickly.

Looks like a complete waste of time and money to me.

Hasn’t made the football any better.

Scott Burns saying we’re looking at the queen of the south striker scored a few this season.

Re: January transfer window - rumours/signings/departures

Conner shields im guessing.

23 year old, 5'11 .Top scorer with 8. Qots sitting 3rd from bottom. He started at albion rovers, scoring 9 in 39 appearances. Went to Sunderland and didn't start a game. Loaned out to alloa where he hit 3 in 3o games (guaranteed 1 must have been against us 😂). Went down to aldershot and scored once before the move to qots. - courtesy of wiki.

Can't think I've ever seen him play or heard him mentioned...

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Re: January transfer window - rumours/signings/departures

Might just be a purple patch for the guy but certainly banging them in for Queens. Only 23 so you never know, certainly looks to be a fast, strong striker. If anything was to happen from our perspective, it's likely it would be in the summer as I cant see anything happening this month.

Re: January transfer window - rumours/signings/departures

He was on the tele a couple of weeks ago v Queens Park in the Cup. Scored a couple & got many mentions incl MotM & the wee interview at the end if I recall correctly.

Re: January transfer window - rumours/signings/departures

That's McMullan away to Dundee on loan for the rest of the season. Good decision by the club. His wages are saved and we cant come up against him in any Cup games or (worst case scenario) play-off games.

Not that I'd worry too much anyway... but still.

Re: January transfer window - rumours/signings/departures

Glad he has went now. Far too inconsistent and no real end product a championship player imo.
Would like to see some more dead wood leave before the window shuts on Monday.

Re: January transfer window - rumours/signings/departures

Only player totally out the picture is Adam King but can’t see us shifting him

If Pawlett isn’t going to feature much it would be good to move him on but apart from that I’m not sure who else we would try and offload?  Up until a couple weeks ago I’d have said Powers but he seems to be back in the plans and doing ok.  Can’t really put young boys out on loan just now with the lower leagues suspended.

Re: January transfer window - rumours/signings/departures

Millwall fans forum is linking them with a £900k bid for Shankland.

Got to assume any initial bid would be rejected. I would think that anything north of £1.3 million would be acceptable.

If bids are to be received then accepted we need to be ensuring that the cash is up front and not made up with unrealistic add ons!

Re: January transfer window - rumours/signings/departures

Got slated for a over reaction when I said if we lose seigrist we’ll go down, tonight further tells me this exactly what will happen, saves 2 of there goals tonight

Re: January transfer window - rumours/signings/departures

If Benji is away then I think we’ll finish in the bottom 2

Re: January transfer window - rumours/signings/departures

Bad news, if true.

Surely we could get a Keeper in on loan from somewhere.

Re: January transfer window - rumours/signings/departures

A reliable keeper and back up is a must, one of the major failings when we went down was due having two inexperienced keepers.

Some midfielders are required and we are obviously strapped for cash but can we afford not to strengthen?
