That is the question.
If so we should also be ripping up Jake Davidson's loan agreement.
All loans, even if its for a year can be cancelled in January
I'd bring Mochrie back now then.
No brainer.

they should extend the transfer window for the League 1 & 2 clubs I think. So hypothetically, we bring Mochrie back, but if the games do start up again, he can be loaned back at any time to the same team, even if its into March etc.

Spot on mate, but that would make too much sense for scottish football

Exactly. They do everything they can to make things difficult. U21s should be allowed to move to as many clubs as needed on loan, at any point in a season. It's ludicrous that a youngster has a window to find somewhere to go to get game time and develop as a footballer.
From a Dundee United perspective though, bringing Mochrie back gives us a bit of strength in depth considering we have now 'lost' McMullan and will likely not sign a replacement. Not that they are the same type of player, but you know what I mean.

Just to stifle a likely rumour that will rear its head soon enough. Pav Safranko has signed for a team in Belarus for around £400k.

That is bonkers money for him imo, nae wonder we couldn’t get him in summer

Agreed. I would say in normal circumstances, £150k would be realistic. In covid times, no chance we'd pay anything for him.

Dundee are eyeing a 'sensational swoop' for Nicky Clark according to DCT. my word.

I think he's far more important to us than McMullan. I'd heard we'd already started talking to him.

That happens and i'd be angry.
Deserves a new deal from Utd.

Would be a loss, and could lead to Clark leaving this window than the Summer, like McMullan. Can't see how we can offer new deal, since he just took pay cut that took 2months of negotiations.
As confirmed, we won't see any new players arrive this window and Cammy Smith linked with Dunfermline.

Thing is if Dundee did sign Clark on a Pre-contract Mellon would look like a massive hypocrite if he didn't ostracize him from the 1st team squad also, as he did with McMullan.
Which imo was a reactionary and foolish decision.

It's a lot easier to do that to someone who had only started a couple of games so far this season. As opposed to your top scorer who has played a part in nearly every game this season, winning us countless points!
I'll be gutted if it happens, but I think with it already being in the news that we have held initial discussions with Clark re a new contract, then he'll wait it out a bit and hopefully decide to stay. I don't think this was the case with McMullan. I don't think we were overly interested in keeping him onside.
Clark and L Smith in the same boat in terms of the club indicating they want them to stay, going by reports. Out of all the players out of contract in June, they are the two I want to see stay at Tannadice.
Clark has spent his career just missing out on the Premiership. He is finally here, scoring goals, playing well, the logical side of my brain says he will wait (who is to see he doesnt have offers from Premiership teams) and make his decision in a couple of months.

He's set a foolish precedent though. He said he took McMullan out of the squad because he is only interested in players who see their future here or words to that effect.
If any other players sign a pre-contract he's backed himself into a corner now.
For me it's a very simple question he has to ask himself regards McMullan (and any other player who signs a pre-contract but may be here till the Summer).
Does keeping them out of the first team squad strengthen or weaken the squad? Considering we won't be signing anyone else, the answer is obvious.
p.s. his response about 'promoting Academy' is just bluster imo. If it wasn't he would have kept Jake Davidson around for a bit and at least gave him the opportunity to challenge Robson for the LB berth.

Davidson is not a LB, however neither is Robson right enough.

He has played left back for Queens Park, Beharder (done very well too by all accounts).

Well I don't think he can be any worse then Robson. I don't have it in for Robson but he has made no progress as a player in the last 3/4 Yrs we need to try and do better.
Hopefully if Davidson does get a chance he shows what he can do.

Scott Burns puts the Nicky Clark rumours to bed. Dundee attempted to sign him. But "he wont be joining Paul McMullan across the road"

Don't know why Micky felt the need to go public re McMullan.
If he's outed McMullan - get Mochrie back.
Nicky Clark to Fun - cannae see it, but get his name on the line. (Thought it already was ? )

Sounds like the deal was close to done anyway. Maybe the Dundee news was leaked by his agent to force United's hand.
Interesting that he had a clause in his contract that was about to be met that would mean an automatic year extension anyway.

Yep I'm happy with this news, important player. Don't understand the stick he gets from some sections of our support
Congrats Nicky! 👍
