Very bad news for Fuchs. For mcnulty almost equally bad news. Had a stress fracture on the top of my foot (after playing on the plastic pitches at Oriam funnily enough) a few years ago. Left me struggling to train for a month and a half. Tough ones to get over, all you can really do is stay off your feet and wait for it to blow over. Could be we've seen the last of him for a while also

Not good news about Fuchs and Mcnulty. Losing both never mind at the same time is a huge blow.

Last 2 on your post not surprising as tbe clubs are really struggling for cash just now.

Re: Depressing news

On the bright side it'll make the starting XI easier to pick.
After Saturday I'm seeing a sizeable squad there.
The likes of Neilson & Appere doing their best to make themselves undropable.
Chalmers to come back in too.
Bolton & Sporle hungry for a game.
Etc.

Re: Depressing news

Fuchs and McNulty certainly bad news.

As for Robert, just looks like a shite rumour fae a shite source. I guess the fact we have asked the players to take wage cuts etc should make any rumours about us bidding for players very unlikely to be true. At the end of day, I'm sure he is a good prospect, but we have plenty of good prospects at Tannadice that I'd rather see us give opportunities to.

Re: Depressing news

Never a good time for injuries but heading into this run of games against teams below feels particularly untimely. Fuchs looked to have kicked Butcher's game up a notch too. Hopefully Powers takes a game when given the chance in there as I feel he's the one that can bring the most to us if on form.

I really like McNulty but I feel this is less of a blow as it forces us into a situation where we're more likely to see round pegs in round holes more often rather than the temptation to play him, Clark and Shankland at times. I like what MM is about in terms of a team game but I think if he mimicked his predecessor a little bit and set us up in an attacking sense to be all about creating early chances for Shankland, he'd do the business.

Re: Robert, I've no idea if he's any good or not. I'd love us to get back to scouting hungry gems in the lower leagues but won't be too disappointed if it turns out to be nonsense.

Re: Depressing news

Signings of a centre mid and a winger must happen imo or we are in big trouble

Dinnae think so SM, big trouble?!?

LEK's got it in #5, we've (very) good prospects waiting in the wings at Tannadice & I'd rather see them given the opportunity rather than your Roberts or the Raith boy.

Yeah transfers in can give the place a fillip but more often than not they're a massive let-down.

Re: Depressing news

Just have a awful feeling how this season is going to end if I’m being honest mate, it’s fine having Bolton and sporle waiting in the wings but both have played full back in career, we really do not have a out and out winger with any quality at all, as for centre mid you could pull names out a hat who’s going to play cause none of them are any better than each other with the exception of Jeando but he seems like he’s injured now, we NEVER have any control in a game where we pass the ball about for a period of time, it’s constant attack from opposition team, shankland had more touches in the killie game than he did the previous TEN games, speaks volumes at where we at as a team, imo honking

Re: Depressing news

Unless there are big movements out I cant see many coming in. If we could only have 1 I'd want a central midfielder who can also play some decent balls into the box. Watching Charlie Adam for Dundee the other night the perfect example of a player who plays central but influences the game massively by getting balls into the box.

Re: Depressing news

These No 10s are like hens' teeth.
Apart from maybe the ones that cost millions, there are very few good ones about.
Every team is on the lookout.

Re: Depressing news

I just want anyone in the team to put a good fucking ball in the box to be honest. Genuinely when was the last time we say a ball in from out wide that you thought "oh shit that was a great ball in" because I canna think of it happening once.

Maybe Bolton vs Motherwell for Reynolds goal? But even then you could call that more of a pass.

Re: Depressing news

Didn't want to make another thread but, speaking of depressing news, wonder how long it will take for talk of the season being cancelled rears it's head. Covid now up to twice as contagious, lockdown in full swing. With over half the season gone it could get called with standings as is being the final positions. Critical we continue to press for a European spot now, could be up to 5 teams in this year.

Re: Depressing news

It would be kind of funny if the season was called just now, Celtic, Rangers and Hearts would be making the exact opposite arguments that they made last season.

Cant see the season being cancelled not a chance. Lockdown is nowhere near in full swing its a half arsed lockdown with more than half of the working population actually out their houses mixing with several other households all over the place.

Yeah agreed, can't see the season being halted this time around after the fucking fiasco last time out. Be interesting to see the Hearts/ Sevco approach though 😂😂

I don't know know like, 40 cases in the EPL last round of testing, okay almost double the teams and probably bigger squads /staff etc. but all the same. Can't help but feel Scot Gov wouldn't need a lot of encouragement to knock the head on the sport if something similar was to happen here in consecutive weeks of testing or whatever.

Actually agree it would be ridiculous, but sadly, unsurprising.

That is why i find the fact we aren't in for Thomas Robert a bit depressing. We are desperate for a winger. And this young boy seems to be highly rated.

Tbh it depressed me Mellon hadn't even heard of him.

I find it hard to believe some of us think we are in a position to sign anyone..??

Re: Depressing news

I don't think we'll sign a single player this month unless its a loan where we dont have to pay any of the wages. But even the chances of that happening are very slim.

Re: Depressing news

Budget are complex things, you can cut the overall budget, cut the salaries, cut the number of players, cut other areas too and then still use a bit of a money as a potential investment and to help the team now. I don't think we will but I wouldn't be overly surprised if we do have a very small outlay or use some of the saved wages from other guys being out on loan.

Well it would be good if we can pull a rabbit out of the hat but my maxim remains 'let's get on with it'.

I may be wrong but I think currently web have the best group of kids we've had for years, Don't know why this is now (investment you could say) but I'm certain there are some rich pickings in there.

I'd hate it if the progress of the best of them was to be impeded by the arrivals of a Nicholls or a Lyng.

So if our roster remains the same thro this sh!tty month then at least MM won't be having bigger selection headaches. Even with a few injuries just now there are guys whose names I would like to see that aren't even getting a subbie spot.

Thomas Robert was a pre-contract. Bit different.

Also i don't think anyone really deep, down expects any signings. Unless it's a loanee (who's wages are all but covered by parent club).
