Celtic v Dundee Utd 30/12/20

Wednesday our first trip to Parkhead in 5 years. As we all know we haven't won against them through there since 1992. Hopefully Wednesday we can get something out of the game. I think we will see the team go back to 5 at the back with Edwards coming back in. Celtic seem to have picked up a bit recently unfortunate for us also.

Re: Celtic v Dundee Utd 30/12/20

Expect we will go with a back 3/5

Wonder if clark might come back in after coming on and scoring, though shankland and McNulty probably better players

Think we might need 35 at the back.

Gid stuff smeds.

Not really that hopeful, but you never know, they have been pretty shite for weeks , we are a wee bit improved so here’s hoping. Even a dra’ would be great. But a good performance please United.

I hope all the players know just how much it would mean to the supporters to give every last ounce of effort they have tomorrow to get a result.

Leave nothing on the pitch.

Apparently Fuchs / Butcher out.

Don’t shoot the messenger. I certainly hope the former makes it.

Heard the Fuchs rumour yesterday morning and the word was it was a bad injury, but he was then spotted outside Tannadice walking about seemingly ok, looking at the JYM tributes.

Who knows, mate.

If they are both out then we need the two American boys to step-up and really take a game.

Re: Celtic v Dundee Utd 30/12/20

Would be a massive blow. Pawlett seems ahead of both Powers and Harkes in that role just now as MM looks at converting him slightly. Maybe all 3 of them would play with Smith and Robson wide in a 3-5-2.

I wouldn’t be against a 4-5-1 either with Smith, Robson, Bolton and McMullan all on and dropping a striker. Although, 3 CH’s has broadly worked against the teams at the top and expect that again tonight.

Looks like Fuchs rumours are true... disastrous.

Benji

Connolly
Edwards
Reynolds

Smith
Harkes
Pawlett
Robson

Clark
McNulty
Shankland

No Butcher either but in all honesty I dont know if thats necessarily a bad thing.

This will be a 541 formation when defending with Clark and McNulty dropping to left and right midfield. One positive might be that Harkes and Pawlett may allow us to break quicker when we win the ball back... but I'd much rather be looking at a team with Fuchs in there.

I've said a few times recently that you can usually predict pretty easily how we are going to play simply by our team/formation selection and I feel like it applies here. Backs to the wall job. But we need to break with quality.

Re: Celtic v Dundee Utd 30/12/20

We are going to get absolutely battered with that line up. Fuchs was really starting to give us some hope too, really not looking forward to this at all now.

Fuchs apparently out for the season.  Disaster.

Re: Celtic v Dundee Utd 30/12/20

Probably put his back out carrying the rest of the team on Saturday. This is the worst fucking news, well at least we have a fit and ready replacement in Adam King waiting in the wings right? 🤔

I think he's connected but has had some stick recently on there so think this was his petty attempt at winding folk up. Seems like a bit of a knob tbh. Hopefully Fuchs injury not serious then? Still got grave reservations about that midfield line up today though 😕 we've had real hidings of these cunts with far better sides than the one we've put out today!

Which channel is the darts on? 😋

That would be disastrous, if true.

Re: Celtic v Dundee Utd 30/12/20

Strange game to be honest. Interesting that the Irish co-commentator for them said it was their best performance all year which is slightly typical and slightly expected in the way we set up. At tannadice, we got into good shape and pressed from there. Today we let them do whatever they wanted until the 18 yard box.... cue two 20 yarders. They had a couple of chances but so did we. Clark in particular should score but his miss just summed up our lack of belief overall today.

I thought before the game the best we could hope for was a valuable lesson to take forward and we’ve probably got that.

3 at the back would work much better if someone could step out with the ball or at very least, not just pass to the opposition.

Disappointing, not unexpected, on top the next one

4-6 weeks for Fuchs.

Which, with our medical staff, may as well be the season.

What a blow that is.

So we probably won't see him until Valentines Day.

Re: Celtic v Dundee Utd 30/12/20

Good comments from Neil Lennon prior to the match regards the wee man. Interesting that he phoned him for advice when Hibs Gaffer. Would love to know what he wanted to pick Jim's brain over.
