The 4-0 drubbing away to Killie is the result that made Mickey Mellon go so defensive and we've never looked back.

Here's the thing though. We are just 4 points off of 2nd bottom (Hamilton and St.Mirren suddenly picking up points).

We are playing a bottom 6 side (albeit Covid related).

Can we just for once have a fucking go and try and

1) Take a game to a team
2) Take shots, put in crosses and win a game by a few goals

Even fucking Hamilton done that last week.

Pointless posting my preferred XI up because he'll play Edwards, Connolly, Reynolds and 8 other players disjointedly shoe-horned into whatever formation we set-up to not lose.

Delighted that he has finally dropped the back 5 , found his bollocks, had a go and went 442.

The difference is night and day.

Let's hope for a full 90 minutes of it and that we don't switch off.

Re: Utd v Killie - Wednesday 23rd December

4 4 Fu*@ing 2 and what a difference!!

Strikers being fed and having chances instead of sitting back playing for a nil nil.

2nd half bar first 10 we dominated and could have scored more. Great performance taking us into Christmas and you would be confident now of taking more than a point against Motherwell.

Well done Micky and the boys, onwards and upwards!

ps. it is frustrating thinking of the points we may have had against livi, st mirren etc if we had chucked the 5 at the back sooner.

not raining on the parade but if that one of theirs from inside the 6 yard box on 17 mins when we were chasing the game goes inside the post it's a different game
we are carrying a wee bit of good fortune but will take it all day long
good down the hill second half, we won the toss

Can say this about most games mate. If Hibs take their chances on Saturday we get a pumpin. But we didnt. Same tonight.

4 points from it, we'll take that.

Now go get 3 on Saturday and we can sit with our feet up when we head to Celtic/Aberdeen away.

Re: Utd v Killie - Wednesday 23rd December

Delighted with that victory tonight and came at a great time with the way the points are in the league and other results. Thought we played very well at times. Great for McNulty and Shankland to both to get goals tonight will do their confidence the world of good. Overall a very good team performance and hope we can carry that onto Saturday.

Re: Utd v Killie - Wednesday 23rd December

For the 1st 15 mins Killie had a bit more drive than us, but the tables turned thereafter.

Yep. A good performance, no doubt. Excellent lay aff fae Shanks for McNulty's goal, and brilliant control by him for the 2nd.

We had a number a chances that we just didna finish cleanly enough, so it coulda been mair.

Thanks for the early Christmas present lads. Roll on Setirday.

White Christmas. Who knows. Weird Christmas. Nae doubt.

Arabest abody.

Re: Utd v Killie - Wednesday 23rd December

Great result, decent performance and all the other results went our way too. Hope we can build on it on Saturday where another 3 points would put us in a brilliant position. Merry Christmas everyone!

Re: Utd v Killie - Wednesday 23rd December

Brilliant result tonight and we played some decent stuff at times.

Results went our way tonight also so another performance like that against Motherwell please.

Fuchs was superb tonight and when Butcher went off the guy stood up to the plate and got wired right in there, great to see.

Front two finally got a bit of service, got their goals and but for us fluffing our lines a few times we could have scored more.

Finally Benji, done fuck all😛

Merry Christmas to all Shed boys and girls.

I thought a 2 goal victory pretty much summed up the game. Should help with the overall confidence of the team

I was saying it about most games LEK.
Hibs could have been 4-0 up.
And I still have shivers over Shankland's hand ball, non-penalty & non-sending off at home to Dons.
If luck evens itself out as it tends to then we are not to be getting the rub of the green one of these days.
Right enough tho, we didn't get much luck at Rugby Park, we outplayed them 0-4.
Anyway maybe we deserve it so yeah, we'll take it.

It is amazing what two goals in three minutes does for you.

Re: Utd v Killie - Wednesday 23rd December

Agree with Tangy. If we’d persisted with 4-4-2 after the last killie and rangers games we could have been shipping goals every week. Instead we’ve tightened up, got the players used to Mellon, got Fuchs up to speed and longer for MM to get ideas across.

We’ve earned the right to go and play a wee bit more attacking now. Not as easy to say it’s what’s been holding us back despite the benefits last night brought. More of the same on Saturday then happy enough with back 3 to frustrate Aberdeen again. They looked toothless against it last time.

Think we’ve matched our quarter tally already. Well done to MM

Agree with this. I think MM knows exactly what he is doing and seems to be able to set the team up to get points on the board. Hopefully we'll slowly start to see more performances like last night and fewer of the dull ones like St J away.
