DCT Thomson exclusively revealing that we had nearly 50 players and staff huddled together last Friday to take the seasonal Team photo...

Pinch of salt... but just off the phone with a mate who gave me some 2nd or maybe even 3rd hand info on who the 9 are:
Benji
Reynolds
Butcher
Bolton
Robson
Clark
Chalmers
King
McMullan
Hoping they are wide of the mark. They wouldnt tell me where they got this from but said it was solid. I'd say 4 of those were certain starters tomorrow. I was hoping for much less impact to that starting 11 than that.
If this is the case then for me:
Deniz
Smith Connolly Edwards Sporle
Neilson
Fuchs Powers
Shankland McNulty

There is no way SPFL would have approved this.

If we get docked points for that then it is exactly what is deserved. Absolutely moronic.

We might have got away with it if the game could go ahead with our depleted squad but a combination of our own stupidity and a helping hand from DC Thomson’s has meant that this can’t really be ignored.
If the game is not called off then all they can really do is fine us I think.

If indeed we took a squad photo, then we have someone in the club that is beyond stupid.
We will get a fine from the SPFL and rightly so.

Risk vs Reward I guess mate.
I don't have a problem with the players being sent on loan, per se, but surely a clause should have been put in every loaned players deal stating that we could recall them at ANY time?

Really?
But it is ok for the Scotland players to do a Conga and then all return to their various SPFL sides and all is cool?
There are massive double standards at play surrounding the rules regards what players can and can't do.

If players can interact on the pitch then why can't they have their picture taken together? Not really seeing the issue. I'm assuming everyone in the photo undergoes rigorous testing? If we are going to say that this is unacceptable then surely playing football together and jumping on each other during goal celebrations has to also stop?

Oh behave
Might aswell cancel celebrating goals, training, and playing games
Everyone in that photo will be with each other everyday
I’m sure it’s ok for them to take a photo OUTSIDE for 5 mins

Whether we like it or not, it's absolutely in breach of the Covid protocols every club agreed to. Although the playing staff are allowed close contact during matches and training, this doesn't apply to other staff (such as those in the picture) and it doesn't apply to activities not related to training/playing (hence the players have to travel individually to training by car, can't use changing rooms/showers etc).
Taking a team photo like this is very much against the rules.

Again. Where was the uproar with the Scotland players all hugging and drinking together?
The rules only seem to be getting applied to some.

Agree. Maybe there is said clause? However, recall Mochrie as an example for two matches and then not play him for the rest of the season? Definitely not good for the player. Not sure how it works with loans tbh. My own opinion is that if a player is u21 then the rule should be that they should be able to move back and forward to from parent club to loan club as many times as needed for the players own development. So using Mochrie as an example, back to United for a month, then back to Montrose.

100%. As much as I enjoyed watching those clips, if United were to be punished for this it would be very hypocritical. Doesnt take away the stupidity of the act. How on earth has this happened? It just makes me think that surely the SPFL were advised and OK'd it... also, who is to say it wasnt taken weeks ago?

Unfortunately its all in the timing. If there had been a Covid outbreak in the Scotland squad you can bet your last dollar there would have been merry hell to pay from club managers and the media. But there wasn't an outbreak and no one missed a game.
Unfortunately for United, this photo has "leaked" at the same time as a covid outbreak, and also unfortunately within days of the St Mirren/Killie hearings.
If United weren't bang in the middle of an outbreak, this would be a much smaller story. Indulging in Whatabouterry, however justified, does nothing to change that.
Having said all that, we aren't going to be deducted points unless we fail to fulfil a fixture due to a breach of protocol.

They should have gone inside a school to take the photo. There is no social distancing or regulations to worry about inside schools.+ According to Swinney you dont catch Covid in schools.

The club should not have arranged this knowing the government guidelines for professional football in Scotland. I imagine Tony and Laura have arranged this and given it the go ahead which imo is totally wrong.

Jason Leitch involved now.
This is not going to end well for us.

I wonder who was supposed to be in the vacant seat, bang smack in the middle of the front row?
Same person who arranged the team photo, would be my guess.
