Utd v Accies - 21/11/20

First league game in 2 weeks (and a 2 week break after this too). So a chance for the players to knock their pan in and then enjoy another period of rest and recovery.

Seems like a big game that we really should be looking to register a win.

Will Logan Chalmers be back? Hopefully. He certainly is a player who offers us a 'spark'.

What team would you chaps like to see? Mine would be (injury permitting).

......................Siegrest......................
Smith....Edwards...Reynolds..Robson
McMullan...Butcher...Harkes...Sporle
..............Shankland..Clark........

Subs - Mehmet, McNulty, Power, Fuchs
Connolly, Bolton, Pawlett, Appere, Neilson

Hamilton haven’t won in ages I believe. Let’s hope it isn’t the charitable Dundee United that turn up.

Re: Utd v Accies - 21/11/20

Not sure what Hamiltons usual approach to away games are but there's maybe a argument to stick with a back 3 from a formation perspective but ensure the shape of the team is to attack. Sporle probably needs to play, harsh on Robson but the emphasise needs to be to attack and create.

Not his biggest fan but maybe a game for Pawlett to play behind Shankland and McNulty as opposed to Clark.Slightly different option and skill set, particularly if it's the Pawlett that looks like running at teams.

Fuchs to start for me, should be at a stage where he can do 60-70 minutes by now.

So that's:
Siegrist
Reynolds Edwards Connolly
Smith Fuchs Butcher Sporle
Pawlett
Shankland McNulty

I like that line up. Was thinking Sporle definitely needs to play. He's got that unpredictable element going forward that we need just now.

I'd go for that team but with Fuchs in for Harkes and McNulty in for Clark.

Too much commotion

I don't think he will be back mate.

But if he is, yes, he's on my bench. Ahead of let's say, young Lewis Neilson.

Agree with lifesanocean's team, I reckon both McNulty and Fuchs will be regular starters for the foreseeable future.

Re: Utd v Accies - 21/11/20

The good thing about that team imho is that there are plenty of players with pace who can get us up the park quickly. When we played against St Mirren we looked slower than a week in jail until McMullan came on.

Pity it won't be that though. Connolly, Harkes, Pawlett and Clark will all play no doubt.

Re: Utd v Accies - 21/11/20

Just heard an interview with MM on the radio and he said they have to assess Shankland fitness after being away with Scotland. Not sure if he was referring to an injury or just a lack of action.

Re: Utd v Accies - 21/11/20

Since drawing with us at NDP at the end of September here's what they've done -
lost 3-2 at Hibs in the Lge
lost 3-1 at Annan in the Betfred
won 2-1 at home to Ayr in the Betfred
lost 3-5 at home to St J in the Lge
lost 2-4 at Aberdeen in the Lge
lost 0-8 at The Rangers in the Lge
lost 1-2 at Stranraer in the Betfred
awarded a 3-0 win at home to Albion Rovers cos of Covid shite

In a bit of a pickle.
Wounded animal or easybeats?
I've heard of shoogly pegs before but Brian Reid's peg must be hanging by an old piece of Blu Tack.

The results don't look great, especially the goals lost.

But you've made a bit of a pudding of the final sentence, it goes against the grain to say.
Brian Reid's Albion Rovers lost to Brian Rice's Hamilton by covid default last week.

Rice has go enough on his plate without you replacing him prematurely. He's not desserted the Accies yet, smedDUm

Re: Utd v Accies - 21/11/20

The worrying thing about those stats is that bar the thumping off the dark side they've scored nearly 2 goals per game on average and more against premier opposition.  If they keep that up then we won't be winning tomorrow.

Re: Utd v Accies - 21/11/20

A lesson the whole league has learned over the past several years, under-estimate the 'cockroaches of the SPFL' at your peril. They've done jobs on better teams than us. Fear them? no. Respect them? yes.

That said, i'd like to see some progression from the recent steadying of the shop tomorrow from a management perspective. There's competition in all areas now so we really need to start seeing players wanting to keep the shirt from a player perspective too.

Re: Utd v Accies - 21/11/20

Yeah, I'd like to think we could relaunch our season tomorrow.
Just a resounding, allround performance to give we the fans a boost, I think we're needing it.

But supposing it all goes pear-shaped tomorrow we don't have another game for a fortnight to wipe the memory. And then there is a difficult run of games lurking round the corner.

So no pressure but a solid performance tomorrow or else!

Re: Utd v Accies - 21/11/20

I'll be happy with 3 points, no matter how we come by them. A great performance would be a tonic of course, but points make prizes!

Re: Utd v Accies - 21/11/20

So so bad.

1 down and not one shot on goal of any note against a team that has lost 33 fuckin goals this season.

It's a good job the fans ain't inside the grounds this season.

Re: Utd v Accies - 21/11/20

It started reasonably well and there was some good stuff from fuchs, mcnulty and edwards but we've just rang out of steam.

Think we should have had 1 of the 2 pens but that doesn't hide the fact that we should be doing better

Awful awful keepball now....thats fine if those ahead are creating space to pass into....or we can play it back and let connolly shuttle it up to their defence...
