Jeando Fuchs

Should we be concerned that Mellon opted for Powers ahead of him tonight?

He's had a full 2 weeks of training now. You would have thought that if he had the quality we were lead to believe he had then he would have featured at some point tonight. Given how turgid it was (again).

Re: Jeando Fuchs

He'll start against St Johnstone on Tuesday.

A manager will always keep a winning starting XI which he did last night.

Re: Jeando Fuchs

Having reread your post I will just add that Powers was put on to make sure we got a point, not win all three, textbook Mellon.

Don't know that's fair comment on Mickey Mellon. He also put McMullan and McNulty on, for two players who are not quite as attacking, it could be argued.

I think Mickey has us playing to protect our limitations presently, and if he had been defensive throughout his managerial career, happy with draws, I doubt he would have led various sides to promotion.

Regarding Jeando Fuchs, is he not primarily a defensive midfielder? Maybe some supporters have been mislead by the video clips of him striking goals from distance.

He is a defensive type midfielder (as is Powers).

St.Mirren were having the better of the midfield and it concerns me that he brought on Powers ahead of him (as he doesn't particularly rate Powers).

Could just be fitness, of course. But he did bring Fuchs on ahead of Powers a week ago.

Maybe i am reading too much into it.

Fuchs describes himself as more of a box to box midfielder.

Re: Jeando Fuchs

Original question re Fuchs v Powers.

Much vaunted international signing, getting splinters watching that garbage.
Harkes should have been off after 60 and Fuchs on,  Micky put Powers on instead. Why ?
Good question.

Thought Butch was Ok, always competitive. Harkes offered nothing going forward.
It was a bit like watching replay of Livi game continually lamping the ball up the park, or like Huns game where we kept giving the ball away.

Hopefully we'll see Powers/Fuchs depite the fact that they're regarded as defensive mid pairing tried + similarly much vaunted but barely got a run McNulty in Betfred

. ..... also looking back at ADS comment on Fuchs regarding himself as box to box player.   In that interview I think you're referring to ADS, he struck me as the sort of guy that would smile, get on with it and give 110% wherever Mick puts him. Hopefully he'll offer flexibility position wise which is exactly what lack with Bolton off the boil and Chalmers out.
