Yes.
Honesty appreciated.

Been asking for communication for months and finally we have it. The naivety shown is unreal. We should of planned for worse case in the first instance, not financially plan for a 'maybe have supporters in by October' - a good, proper business plans for worse case in every situation.
Also seems Orgren has been hit by Covid, like every other businessmen in the world. The accounts this year and next won't make for good reading either.
Still can't get over at the lack of incompetence planning for fans in October. WOW, did they ignore the experts about 2nd wave.... Surely 4 weeks ago signing the new players they would of thought 'maybe no have fans in the ground'......
Do the club have a financial director? If so, should be sacked. Only professional club to financially plan for fans to be in the stadium and have no plan b. The whole club is backed on plan that was NEVER going to happen. That is financial mismanagement.

Agree that his honesty is really good. If he thinks the Scottish or UK Government are going to help them out he's in for a big disappointment though. Football has never got a brass farthing from the government. That wouldn't be a problem until you see sports like athletics and cycling getting big sums thrown at them in preparation for the Olympics.

It is grim and it is about the survival of the club. I did, some months ago, question the amount of money that Ogren had at his disposal plus his goal of having a profitable club, whilst selling our best players and producing an endless stream of talent from the academy.
My wish is that he raises funds through a Rights Issue. Let supporters get an actual stake in their club. My fear? He leverages the assets.
If I have learned anything from Craig Whyte, Mike Ashley, The Glazers, KKR, Kuwait Investment Fund et al, it is this: If you are not a shareholder, it's not your club.

Not that I’m particularly disagreeing with too much other than the imbalanced viewpoints but is there a reason why you only appear periodically and only really to discuss negative items, usually finances?

No supporters in the grounds is having a massive detrimental effect on Scottish football.
The club's should get together and put some serious pressure on the SG to start letting some supporters back in.
The SG are safe in the knowledge that they can do whatever the hell they want and people will still vote them in.
Make no mistake this is a political decision by the SNP who do not give a f##k about our national game.

Yes, i’ve said before I don't comment on games as we all say the same things if we win, lose or draw.
I comment on ownership & accounts as that is the life of the club.

Now here's a question:
When limited numbers of fans are allowed back would season ticket holders accept 500 walk-ups going instead of them to provide much-needed revenue for the club?

Owner Mark Ogren's from the USA, and a Trump backer.
Perhaps he underestimated the Covid threat.
It appears that we are now doing what Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts and neighbours Dundee, as examples, did in the summer.

Whilst it would be of great benefit to the club, I think it would be very hard on the loyal fans who bought season tickets in the knowledge they wouldn't be attending a large percentage of the games. Tough question to answer I think, although the clubs survival would ultimately mean more to those same season ticket holders I'm guessing.

Some season ticket holders may be willing to PATG to help the club. I reckon I would to see the terrors again

Being a man of politics:
Biden likely to win next week, Ogrens taxes likely to go up, less money to bail out United.
No way the timing is a coincidence in my opinion. Appreciate his honesty though, I'm sure fans will be happy to do what they can (tough times for many) to help the club if they feel they have someone they can trust running the club.
On a different note, I stated in another thread that I would vote for whoever would let me back in to Tannadice and I stand by this. The fact there are no fans back in football grounds in this country when fans of most other outdoor sports across the world have some, limited, capacity for fans shows the disdain that football fans are held in by politicians in the UK.

Ogren saying Utd would lose money on 500 supporters being let in. But he accepts we have to start somewhere regards getting a crowd in.
So in that case, it has to be season ticket holders.
Doubt kiosks will even be open anyway.

I don't think he will need to worry about taxes at all. As an US citizen he will be taxed on his Worldwide income. As such any profits he made from the gas station business, IT start up and sports businesses will be dwarfed by the losses at United.

what's the best way for long distance arabs to support the club during these tough times? Arabtrust, the foundation, merchandise?

Well said. Thought the exact same thing myself

If you're going to come on here and be all sanctimonious and "I told you so", it would be better if you sorted out your basic English.

I agree it does seem a strange football fan who is much more interested in the finances than the football, but each to their own and he does have a point even if his English isn't perfect! There is a tone of sanctimonious about him, but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt here - he is right after all. We don't seem to be doing very well in the running of the business at the moment. Now is not the time to have impostors at the helm.

very disappointing under the circumstances that the club have still not released any sort of statement from Ogren or Asghar via the official website and social media platforms!
Ogrens statement on the tully website last night should have been released on the official site before there.

I know the club and fans have got more important things to worry about just now but there was a supporters liaison group over 2 weeks ago now and there are still no minutes or even an overview of what was said from either the club or the Foundation (despite both promising over a week ago that something would be put out) or any other fans group present as far as I am aware. Anecdotally, I heard that the main topic of conversation in a 2.5 hour meeting was the clubs dreadful communication.
It is beyond parody.

The federation sent an email out to all member clubs on the 21st October with details of meeting.
Fans united also released info to members on their facebook page 5 days ago.
A lot of things were discussed and i wouldn't say the main topic was the dreadful comma however it was discussed.
