I was born just a few weeks after this so of course never witnessed it, but I've just snapped up the programme as a wee birthday treat to myself and to put in my collection.
Of course my favourite all time derby will always be our league winning triumph in 83, what's everyone else's favourite Derby win?
The two you mention Ads are without parallel.
If you'd been my kid born shortly after The Massacre you would have been called Finn Dossing Surname.

Milne derby will always be tops, League Cup Final was a bit special and the semi at Tynecastle, I've never seen the Dees so deflated that day.
Then we have Jim (coco) Smith applauding our players off the park after spanking them, also 6-2 twice.
Just too many great days against them.

First Derby was at Dens in November 92 when I got soaked behind the goals as we ran out 3-1 comfortable winners.
Was at the 6-2 first edition which was great but my favourite in 30 odd years of following United was 6-2 second edition was my boys first one. What a way to introduce your son to the fixture by giving them another good going over.
So 83 League win, the Massacre, Lge Cup Final all at Dens.
And the Tynie semi is a very worthy 4th best.
That really was some game, it was gruelling, They were kicking lumps out of us. Anybody who wasn't there have a look at the highlights, you'll not believe the challenges & it was actually gratifying to see the ref letting the game go. Today there would have been 100 fouls & eight of them booked. But we stood up & took the knocks, gave it back & scored more goals than them. It was a decent Dundee side & I'll always remember a brilliant finger-tip save from Billy Thomson atΒ the opposite end. It was late in the game & from a free kick. A blood & thunder semi & our skill & hardness got us to the final.
