Similar to Wednesday. A good win with a few goals registered is what should be expected.
My team for tomorrow would be. What is yours?
.........................Mehmet.............
Neilson.....Edwards....Butcher.....Robson
Bolton.......Powers.....Harkes.....McMullan
...................McNulty...Clark........
Subs - Alexander, Connolly, Reynolds, Appere
Sporle, Pawlett, Fotheringham, Cammy Smith, Hoti

id rather play with 10 men than Ryan Edwards in our line up.
As said in other thread for tomorrows game i think he will make at least 4 changes to the starting line up. Hopefully McNulty and Hoti will see game time. Would also start Appere again try and get his confidence up.
I would put Neilson and Butcher centre half.

There seems to be a mass fascination to put Butcher at CB. When he played there he wasn't quite good enough in the air so he moved forward to CM.
Just leave him where he is.

I think the best way to get a settled and organised back four is to leave it the fuck alone wherever possible.

Agreed. Edwards is just in the door and some would have him out on his ear already.

in 2013 he played there. He was more than comfortable there in the games he played there last season and as he becomes less effectual in the middle of the park, and we bring in a promising new player who plays his position, it would seem a logical move, not a mass fascination.

Yep I trust Micky knows there's a good player in there.

Edwards was decent against Livi for 89 minutes. No problem with him in the team and given a fair chance to settle. Football fans are criminal for "he's p!sh" instead of thinking, he's had a difficult game. that said, i'm not sure what our strongest pairing is. Reynolds isn't playing well but probably is our best. So it's him and one other in a settled partnership for me probably.
Open to trying Butcher at the back if we can retain enough physicality in CM. I think it was the 6-2 derby (MK II) where he moved to CB and looked very comfortable.

I think we lack balance when Mark Reynolds is in the team, as he's the only one who appears comfortable on the left side. Ryan Edwards looked a bit awkward when over there in the Livi match, and Mark Connolly has made quite a few blunders when pulled there as well.
I'm going to pinpoint the 6-2 game against Dundee last season regarding Calum Butcher: he's remembered for his two goals, but replacing Connolly who was struggling that night seemed to alter the flow of the game as well. The issue with him is he's more able playing on the right.
Maybe MM has seen we are lacking competition in Reynolds' position in a four, and that's why he's favoured three at the back at times. And maybe ADS is right about giving a settled defence a chance of a run of games.
But I have a feeling that we'll have to outscore teams in a lot of matches this season to win them, as clean sheets aren't going to happen too often.

Forgot about him.
Yes, absolutely.
Don't go looking for another 6 goals, that's not going to happen.
The Glebe was a stroll (in the end). Peterhead at 3pm on a Saturday at Tannadice is a different kettle of fish. (pun unintended).
2-0 shutout would be ok.

Hopefully win by at least 2 goals and McNulty marks his debut with a goal

Went to ET I think last time we played them, Edge debut match possibly.
Any win will do 2-1.
Offline
Comfortable 3 goal win but we will probably concede at least 1.

I'll be happy if the score finishes Peterhead 0 and we have at least scored 1. These are the games to start your clean sheet run. We were good at that generally last season and that should be the target against lesser league and lower Prem teams at home. It builds confidence.

As I said though IMO he is not commanding enough in air and so many teams in the SPL rely on the big striker, long ball game.
His propensity for a rash tackle is more likely to get a red card as last man /goalscoring opportunity than if the offence is committed in midfield
Leave him where he is, he not as affective as he was in league 1 but he still plays a useful role in the team.

He probably needs to learn to be more quietly effective. Ryan Jack certainly isn't a world beater (on last night's evidence) but he's doing a job for the Rangers. Think he just needs to concentrate on his spoiler role. Currently for me his only comparisons are Powers who holds the ball better than him but isn't as good at breaking up play and Harkes who doesn't know himself what kind of midfielder he is but he's neither a spolier or a holder of the ball! Fuchs knows where Jeando fits in, but I'm expecting a bit of Powers, a bit of Butcher and a bit of box to box - if that was Armstrong-esque superb, but I suspect he's more defensive. Maybe Butcher will be the one to drop out for him?
We definitely needed a 'hard man' for the Championship, but not sure that is as much of a requirment in the Prem. There's a reason the Jambos were interested....
