Courier have us trying to sign McNulty on loan
Not on board with this one at all, and it’s nothing to do with the match-fixing allegations, I’m no really bothered about that sort of stuff.
He’s just not the type we’re needing at all. 5’10” with a pretty unremarkable goal record other than one season in League Two. 8 goals in 21 SPL games really doesn’t give me the horn, that’s the sort of numbers I’d expect from a Nicky Clark and we already have that.
Easier said than done, but we’re needing a Jon Daly type, the boy Kabamba at Killie looks the business.
Agreed. McNulty is nothing more than a lazy signing.
Also agree about Kabamba.

Maybe Butcher or Powers going to be leaving.
United also trying to sign a winger and a striker this week
I never understand the narrative that when a player signs in a position that means someone MUST be leaving?
Also the whole "Butcher must be moving to centre half then..." that I've seen a few times makes no sense either.
It's just more options. I think we've been fairly weak in midfield at times. Good on the counter attack but look at some of the goals we lost against Rangers and Killie you just feel like if we had two players sitting deep away from home (one of which a proper box-to-box which this Fuchs appears to be) then we'd give ourselves a much better chance of remaining strong through the spine of the team.
If our 4 central midfield options are Butcher, Powers, Fuchs and Harkes then I'm comfortable we'll have enough to see us through the season and different types of games. In home games we might get away with a Butcher and Harkes type partnership whereas going away to Ibrox/Parkhead you might need a Butcher/Fuchs/Harkes midfield for a bit more strength in there.
This is all assuming that this Fuchs boy is decent. Which his pedigree would suggest he is.

Great Post LEK, agree with all you've said.
I think that Hoti was almost certainly a dev squad signing and the only other CM on the books is King who they must be desperately trying to shift.

Just seen a rumour that we are after Liam Millar from Liverpool. 21 year old striker/left winger who had a loan spell at Killie previously.
We are one of many clubs though looking at a loan move and they apparently include Stoke, QPR, Blackburn so I'd be surprised if we managed to get to the front of the queue with that one.

None of they 3 strikers overly enthuse me, Madden would be the pick of the bunch, but even then, he seems a pretty similar sort of player to what we’ve got.
Still living in hope that Safranko’s club lower their demands before the window closes.

I guess people think money is tight and the club will have an ideal squad size.... unlike myself one football manager - guaranteed I sign 12 players per window 🤣 squad chemistry is the pits though
Also - noticed fuchs played with kylian maybe for france - that will be 100 interviews putted by hacks on how good mbappe is....if he signs

On Alaves website and Twitter that Fuchs has completed his move.

An exciting signing indeed! Hopefully we have him on a decent length of contract so if he does turn out to be the real deal, he doesnt just leave on a free.

Hopefully this is a sign of the clubs ambition and folk can stop laying into Asghar, Burns etc. Now let's see a winger and a striker please 😋

Sounds like we have paid a transfer fee going by Alaves's press release.
We'll find out perhaps whenever Joe Rice decides to tell us.

That wasn't how I read it (at least the Google Translate version), but you could easily be correct. Or it could mean any number of other things, or nothing...

United are being ripped on Twitter for not tweeting about it yet - who is to say the deal is actually done? You see this a lot dealing with foreign clubs. Maybe they have accepted our bid or agreed to let him leave for free but that doesnt mean he has signed on the dotted line for us yet. People need to relax. He has to quarantine for 2 weeks so whether its announced today, tomorrow, or next week, it makes no fucking difference.

Tbf it will make a difference to whether he can play against the Sheep or not, but I do get your point of course.

Yeah I know, but realistically he's not going to play against them after 1 or 2 days of training with the squad. Which is the max he'll get even if he travels today.
Also the whole quarantine thing... if he gets tested for Covid on his first day here and tests negative... surely that is enough? I dont understand tbh.

Yeah that's a fair point regarding the training although players have joined clubs the day before a game and played so I wouldn't rule it out completely.
Yeah it doesn't seem to make any sense to me either, but then we have entire governments that haven't a fucking clue either so Fuchs knows what's going on 😂

Ross Graham played for Cove last night in a friendly. Not sure if its with a view to a loan or permanent move - would assume just a loan.

Has he not gone to them on loan? Sure someone mentioned it last week at the same time as Glass going to Thistle.
Sorry, read the article now and appears he hasn't, at least not yet anyway.

"Dundee United have had an offer accepted for Jeando Fuchs, who should join the Tannadice club in the coming days. The Deportivo Alaves midfielder represented France up to under-20 level and played in the same team at Kylian Mbappe before he decided to opt to represent Cameroon at full international level. He’s now set to move to Scotland after an offer was accepted by the Spanish club. They confirmed:Deportivo Alavés and Dundee United have reached an agreement for the transfer of Jeando Fuchs. After spending the 2019-2020 season on loan at Maccabi Haifa, the Cameroonian midfielder is now embarking on the project led by Mickey Mellon. We wish Fuchs the best of luck for his new step in Scotland.
From the Daily Record (Scott Burns) - could be a few days before announced.

Nothing official yet mate. That article says something about him playing for Dumbarton at the weekend too.

He could test negative on arrival but still be carrying the virus, then test positive a week later.

A positive signing and certainly an intriguing one. Hope for the best from him.
On a side note, having been in Spain for a while you'd hope he would have a decent level of Spanish to give sporle another Spanish speaker to talk to.
Offline
Big teams in France were in for him before moving to Spain, same owners at alaves and his previous team, so got transferred there, really excited about this

With Clairfontaine (sp?) in place, you don't play for France under 20's without having something about you. Talent will be there, risk is in adapting and integrating. Fingers crossed.

It's actually more to do with him arriving from Spain and the current quarantine restrictions.
