So going by Scott Burns (supposedly a close acquintance of Tony Asghar) Mickey Mellon will sign a 2 year deal tomorrow.

The componsation fee to Tranmere is 120k.

Lee McCulloch and Gordon Forrest will stay as coaches for the time being but that could change with both still going to Tynecastle if compo is paid for both.

Anyone else not too comfortable about the McCulloch and Forrest chat?

Both are clearly liked by the players so if they want to stay and are committed then fine, come out and say that.

If you want to go to Hearts but that move is only not happening because Utd want compensation, then GTF.

See how it pans out Slateford, don't be bothered by Hearts unknowns, they're in for a very bad week, leave them to it.
If Forrest & McCulloch stay with us I'll be happy, by all accounts they are excellent and are doing what they're paid to do (unlike these charlatans in the McNamara era).
But it'll depend very much depend on Mellon's wishes, he's coming home after 30 years & the norm would be to bring his best man/men with him.
Either way things are looking good, very good.

I'm absolutely fine with it. No one knows apart from them how they feel about all of this, but one thing is for sure, they have loved their time at the club so far.

They will only be focusing on one thing - having a job and enjoying that job.

If Mellon comes in and doesnt want them - they'll probably go to Hearts to be honest. But if Mellon comes in, they hit it off and its all working perfectly... they'll stay.

I highly doubt either of them are screaming at Tony to let them go. They're not going to come out and say anything either way. If they come out and say "we dont want to go to Hearts, we want to stay at United" then Mellon doesnt want them and they've burnt bridges with Hearts? Silly move.

Time will tell.

Hope he does well, obviously. Interesting appointment, looks like the club was thinking differently in the approach to finding a new manager, and I'm pleased with that.

Like smedDUm has pointed out, most managers struggle and have a short timescale in each job, and I anticipate this could be different.

No such luck Pat I'm afraid. My daughter ruined her laptop with coffee yesterday so the money is already gone before they even pay out 😂 but thanks anyway bud 👍

I know where you are coming from.

Feels like they could potentially just be serving out their days here till Hearts are ready for them and as they don't play (potentially) till October they might not be in a rush for them and as such want to pay their wages till later.

It's not ideal. I'd rather know 100% that our coaching team going forward are all united in their desire to be here.

Exactly. You would think that this would be discussed during the discussions with Mellon. Does he want his own backroom team or are United saying to him you have to work with the coaches who are already here? If it is the latter then does that mean Lee and Gordon have committed themselves to staying?

Would hate to get to October and they fuck off to Hearts and we are left scrambling around to replace them.

If they want to go to Hearts then fine - quit and go now so Mickey can get his own boys in now.

I'd guess theres a better chance of McCulloch wanting away and Forrest staying.

Forrest- despite claims to the contrary, was taken to the club by Asghar. He maybe enjoys working with Neilson but I think it was all but done before he was 'interviewed'.

McCulloch was Robbies man. In saying that, he did that interview in the car and he seemed quite happy here. You never know.

As much as i dislike Lee mcculloch the player, he's left a big impression on players. Pavol has on more than 1 occasion raved about his training

No reason McCullough wouldn't stay and see how things pan out with Mickey - even presuming Hearts want him.

As far as Forrest's concerned, he's an Ashgar / Ogren appointment - all the more reason for him to stay.
+ Gut feel is he and Mickey will go well together.

Sky sports news saying close to agreeing a deal and could be announced as early as today, fucking been reading that for three days now. The amount of compensation we've paid is all over the press but still fuck all from the club, really taking longer than you'd expect at the moment.

I'm hoping the reason its taking so long is that they are filming a good welcome video to share with the fans straight away. Or he is traveling up this morning so he can get the picture inside Tannadice with the scarf above the heid!

Happy enough with this.
2 weeks ago i didnt have a clue who MM was had never heard of him.
I have read a bit about him past few days and have been happy with what I'm reading.

As with every appointment its a risk letd hope this works.
