You fear that our Sporting Director has too much ambition?
Did you quote the correct post?
No? You said you fear for us. I was just wondering specifically where this fear came from?

Here's mine:
As money disappears from the club over the horizon, we could shout 'Snowflakes' at the companies who don't want to be associated with us, or who won't consider us for future patronage.
No, i'm not trying to get any reaction Pat. It was an honest opinion.
Strange response tbh.
Cannae see why that's considered strange. No matter, if I thought Mackay was a good football choice, which I don't, and if I wasn't suspicious of Mackay's financial dealings, which I am, and even if Mackay's behaviour while using club property wasn't seen as stupid at best, surely nobody can argue that employing him would be an own goal from an overall business point of view.

It was the implication that i was trying to 'get a reaction' with my post that i found strange Pat. Because i was simply stating honestly who i felt would be a better fit for Utd out of the two mentioned candidates.
I don't need to see a series of links from 6 years ago about sponsors pulling out of Wigan Athletic. I am still of the same opinion. MacKay would still be a better appointment.
Of the two candidates i mentioned.

Let's just say the jury is out for me on Asghar and as he seems to be the only show in town now, I fear for us. His handling of our manager recruitment does nothing to re-assure me. For example, trying to sign Messi might look good for the papers, but it isn't going to happen and therefore it isn't a case of too much ambition...

His handling? By trying to get the best possible manager for the club? McClaren literally met him face-to-face on Monday and depending on what shitey rumours you believe, was very very close to taking the job.
Surely Asghar trying to get the best man for the job is a good thing and shouldnt cause alarm????
Also, the only show in town? He is literally the sporting director, its his job to pick the manager. I dont understand this arguement.

I don't get Asghar either, I have been very cautious regarding the approach our new owners have taken from the start. I rang alarm bells about MB last season and now he is away. Despite being called a Dee from a few - I'm still ringing alarm bells about our finances - it's unsustainable, it's just basic maths. Ogren publicly stated he wants to make profit from our club, that simply will not happen. Unless there is a massive new TV deal and/or we can have a bigger stadium with more fans then it won't happen. If it was that easy in Scotland, many more clubs would start making profits and many more rich men would be involved. We are already over £5m in debt (to Ogren), 133% wage to turnover, we are spending money for project brave for an army of staff that delivers what? More and more clubs are pulling out of project brave, it's a Malky project, same as the guy before him MW project.
When Ogren realises he won't get profit, then what? I'm grateful, as our club was on its knees with ST & MM but I would prefer a sensible plan.
I don't expect everyone to agree with my post. I still think we will end up with a Jon Daly/Barry Robson type manager.

You do realise the full story of the 133% do you?

I'm pretty much in agreement with this. I think Ogren is good for the club, I think (and hope) he is in it for the long term, but I fear he is somewhat naive in his understanding of Scottish football (specifically the money that can be made from it) and has potentially put too much trust in those who he has put at the helm (who clearly sold him the idea in the first place). I know who I think has made the best of the Ogren deal and its not the club, the fans or Ogren. Of course it could all work out (and as a fan I hope it does), but if I was a betting man...

Why have the meeting if it was the 'wrong time' for him - doesn't add up.

Sven did this a couple of years ago, picked a club that he had no intention of going to but it got his name out there. McClaren did the same, why apply if it was the wrong time? He knew he would be the star name amongst the applications & get good air time on TV, with his name being talked about.
It was all for him and nothing more.

I’m honestly glad McLaren is no coming. No doubt he is a good coach but I honestly think he’d be a fish out of water at Tannadice.

McCullough .
Mackay - toxic
As far as Ogren and making money is concerned, selling on was implicit from the start.
We've good prospects coming through not to mention Shanks where he'll turn a quick million-ish, so no he'll be happy enough. In it for the medium term at least.

Change of favourite on SkyBet.
McKinlay 13/8. Mackay 15/8.
Has the Badger landed?

Oh please no.!!
Loved Billy as a player, don't want my memory of him to be another ex-player failed manager.!

Billy now into 11/8 and Mackay out to 9/4 - seems a big move. Fits my young hungry manager requirement, knows the club, but has he been out of Scotland too long?

Think it was Blackburn Rovers when they were in the top league and then he had a tour of Blackburn and changed his mind!

I'm not so sure it was a PR exercise.
Because when clubs in the English Championship see he was applying for jobs in the Pub League (as they see us Jocks) his stock would be as low as a Farmfoods own label.
