Odds closing up between McClaren and Mackay again on Skybet. How certain are we that this is done? McClaren gone from 1/10 to 4/11 and Mackay at 2/1

I cannot believe we’ve got 150 grand for neilson and replaced him with Steve mcclaren, incredible, pretty speechless about it tbh
Going by the papers tonight its not completely 'done' yet mate? Or do you think Asghar is just holding off a bit to leak it? Record says no one has been officially offered the job yet??

I got told it was done by pal, maybe jumped the gun apologises! Does sound like it’s close though unless he starts asking ridiculous wages

Think a few people are jumping the gun a wee bit here regards a decision being made.
Tony Asghar only returned to Scotland on Monday night after travelling down South to meet McClaren yesterday.
Scott Burns insinuates in his article here that it is a clear two horse race between Malkay MacKay and Steve McClaren but the issue with both is salary.
MacKay would have to take a wage cut from what he is getting from Scotland National Team and McClaren would have to come down from what he was used to at Forrest, Reading etc.
He does also mention Utd's interest in Mickey Mellon of Tranmere. But would seem he is 3rd option.

Given the off field issues with MM I'd suggest, if salary is the problem, then we let the door hit his arse on the way out 👍

I tend to agree with you mate but at the same time regret that his management days would appear to be over. When he may well have enjoyed some very good days. But if he is in receipt of £5k/week for over 3 years from the SFA for an admin post I'm sure he'll be perfectly happy to let the door skelp him on his arse.

Yeah, if he's on that kind of money, I'm surprised he stuck his head above the parapet in the first place.

MM is a strange one, He’ll be one of the largest salary jobs with the SFA with a fair bit of security, to give it up for a wage cut, and knowing that a few bad results and he’s likely to be heading out the door sooner than most other managers due to his past. He’d obviously leave with a wedge of cash to pay up his contract but by the time that happens the SFA job is gone and he’s out of work for who knows how long.
What it it's neither of these two/three (Wright seems to be wriggling out)?
There's a very good chance I think that our next manager will come from those listed below SM, MM & TW.
Truth is none of us on any forum/Fb have a scooby & our only info is courtesy of SkyBet's book (other bookies seem to be out too). And the press are in the same boat, they're probably getting their best feel from here.
I've a hunch it's gonna be outwith the two/three horse race & I'll not be disappointed.

Tenner on Mickey's melons anyone?

...or a fiver on Malky's falsies maybe? Oops sorry.

Yes this is becoming a farce. We've got boys on other forums saying that a McPhee, Daly and Levein team would be fine. Is that not the team that effectively relegated the Jambos (with more money behind them than we'll have)? McLaren is certainly not the manager he once was and if recent media engagements are anything to go by he's possibly lost it (which would be evidenced by wanting to come and manage newly promoted DUFC, in my opinion). Mackay does have the credentials as a manager with something to prove, but that something to prove is that he is not a racist, misogynist or anti-semite, oh and yes we'd have to break the bank to lure him from his well overpaid job at the SFA and pay them compensation. Tommy Wright, bit boring but safe pair of hands and likely to consolidate us in the league again - doesn't want the job. Mickey Mellon, never heard of him, but sadly will likely be being paid more as Tranmere manager. To my mind this is all hyperbole for the bookies and red-tops. I fear this is going to make us look stupid in the end - I never thought I would say this but I'm sorry Neilson has gone - and I didn't rate him. I fear for us.

The usual amount of panic based on speculation, people desperate to pretend their ITK, and 'journalists' playing games.
Calm down, go about your daily business and wait to see what appears on the official website.

Absolute nonsense. I don't think anyone has tried to pretend they are ITK as you put it.
News circulated quite quickly yesterday just before SM(not saying your post is directed at him btw) posted on here about McClaren being appointed and he was quite within his rights to post on here.
i remember a year or so back someone being praised for posting an exclusive to a signing before it broke. Now people are having a dig.

I think the only problem with ITK's is the wording they use. Most of them just go with 'hearing its done' or 'apparently' etc. I saw so many tweets especially saying 'its done' as if they have had a phonecall fae Big Tony confirming the news. Just wish people weren't so keen to pass on info as facts and stuck to them being rumours, which is all they are until the club post it. We need ITK's though, you would struggle to have forums like this if you didnt!

Am I the only one that is not bothered by today’s silence?
Remember, the Hearts Court of Session case is tomorrow afternoon. Surely United (and McClaren for that matter) will be waiting for the verdict to be sure we don’t get screwed over and lose our promotion to the Prem.

Good point, depends on what happens may impact the start of the season and influence any mangers decision
Still believe we start in the premier league, just if season is delayed by the court action

Could be win the case, promoted and Mclaren, lose the case and championship with a-another?
Heard all kinds of rumours, i got told TW was signed sealed the other day then another boy has told me Jimmy Fyffe leaked that SM has it. God knows.
Anyway, fingers crossed it all goes well tomorrow and we get the promotion and the right man to lead us. Need to stay positive, never dull being a United fan these days!

We ARE promoted: there's no chance that we won't be playing in the top league in the upcoming season.
