Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

I tell you what, I'd fucking love it if McClaren was appointed with BOTH Daly and Robson as his assistants. Unlikely, I know, but two young, hungry coaches who know this club inside out, 2 ex-captains during fairly successful times for the club, leaders on the pitch so very likely leaders off of it, have great experience of the league. The more I think about it, the more I think that is a dream scenario. Imagine the standard they would set.

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Yeah I wonder about Mackay leading Project Brave & all that & how he's getting on. It was a tough entry into the role cos of the very well documented baggage attached but fair game, he's in his 4th year so he must be doing something right (or maybe not, Weegie Mafioso etc).

But yesterday on here I admit to a change of heart as I began to respect more the anti-Mackay brigade's opinions. Yes he deserves a 3rd chance (hampden was his 2nd) but there are others around who are just as good and who aren't going to tarnish our good name.
£100k compo then comes into it but who knows, that might turn out to be a bargain as he propels us into Europe (if there are any flights).

So the three horses I can't separate. There are equal cases pro & anti them & I'll be surprised & delighted at whoever gets it but you know what, it's probably going to be none of the three.

Hearing its a done deal also. Betting markets would also suggest some serious money has been put on him in the last hour or so

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Yep done deal! No sure if it will be announced tonight or tomorrow

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Massive statement from United, now get some signings in and we’re laughing!

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

McClaren (wish he could spell) is 2/7 with SkyBet. Wm Hill not picked up on it, they're 6/4 Mackay, twos McClaren & Wright. Wright;s way out to 12/1 on skyBet, they've dismissed him. McClaren could be a strong Asghar choice cos he will be the guy who clues him up on Scottish fitba & I'm sure he pokes his nose in. But will McClaren like that & what about his mate(s), assistant(s), who might they be.
Getting interesting.

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Id be off my tits happy if Steve McClaren got the job.  I'm honestly not sure how well he'd do but the statement this makes from United and the exposure this will bring.  His connections within the game too at just about every level, would be thrilled with this.  Even if he did balls up the England job...

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Neil Lennon
Robbie Neilson
Derek McInnes
Jack Ross
Craig Levein

What do they have in common? Failed in England. The boy we are baw-hair away from announcing has held his own overall in England and excelled at times.

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Will bring a lot of extra exposure which will probably be a good thing.
Be ready for not 'Dundee United' but 'Steve McClaren's Dundee United' on Sky.

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

It’s 100% done, coming up tomorrow

I cannot believe we’ve got 150 grand for neilson and replaced him with Steve mcclaren, incredible, pretty speechless about it tbh

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Money for Neilson will cover McClaren's wages for a year. Insanity.

Is it definitely over the line Smeds?

Unless there's a hitch overnite Toby, medical maybe?
Can still get 1/10 for him on SkyBet!
Wm Hill & others have closed their books.
Surprised it's not being mentioned on SkySports right now, been looking out for it.

He'll be on more than Neilson was, surely.  Especially now that we're in the Premier.

I think he means the compo, not Neilsons wage

Anybody's better than Hart.

Sorry Shakey I do enjoy your early morning contributions from Down Under-ish but I couldn't give a FF about Celtic's F'n goalie.
Here we are locked in a 3-horse race for the most crucial DUFC managerial appointment ever since the  last one & you're discussing the merits of Forster v Hart!
Benji's better than both of them anyway

Awfy lot fewer words on Hart than yours on mnenomics lessons !

After even closer scrutiny he's really shite!
His wicki reads like an obituary.
He's been sacked more times than he's been appointed.
He'll have no knowledge of Scottish football, he's maybe sitting outside the Dump right now not realising there's two clubs in town.
Sorry Steve, you don't need the money, off you pop.

So that just leaves the Perth Fermir, Tommy Wright.

Was only kidding, was downplaying his merits cos it looked like we weren't getting him and it was to mask the disappointment
Better get used to 'Steve McClaren's Dundee United'
