As said previously its an attractive job. There has been alot of change at Tannadice since Ogren took over and imo the club is on the way up. There will be some cash to spend on players.

I don't think there is any cash to spend. 99% of clubs in Scotland are feeling the strain of this economic climate. Ogren has put in cash around £7m (stadium purchase, gussie, more staff, players), £5m of that is via a loan (see accounts).

Last year we made huge loss £3m, would have be over £4m if it wasn't for Robertson instalment. Shankland price will have dropped as Covid as changed the transfer market, many clubs that might have been interested won't have the funds now. So technically we are overspending.  We did gamble based on going up (tick) & more away fans (X) and TV money (Semi tick) - that is why, if Hearts stay up and we go down to the championship it will be catastrophic for the club.

We will be going through money like no tomorrow just now and really need to start to plugging the gaps plus we now have legal fees and still don't know what division we are in. As stated Ogren has put in money based on SPL football with crowds, we have no crowds and still don't know about SPL. How much does he want to put in or able to put in now. Remember he has other business interests which will be in the same boat and need his attention to.

We asked the Foundation the other week for 100k to help the club. That will have been swallowed up now.

And we about to hand Dunfermline money for Nisbet.  That wont ve the end of that there will be more

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Didn't Tommy Wright give up St Johnstone cos he was seek of the SPFL?
If he came to us it would feel like he was getting dragged back to the workplace.
He's 5/1 fav with Paddy Power.

Craig Levein? Has he lost it? Has he not? Not on the betting list yet but will be later on after his 'never say never' comment. Might be a joint favourite or thereabouts..
Barry Robson? Comes over as a bit on the silly side, would he be taken seriously? 12/1.

Much must depend on Mr Asghar, massive Hun.
If he stays might we see the likes of Lee McCulloch or Barry Ferguson at the helm? 12/1 & 20/1.

Is Billy Davies still with us? Or is he a fictional character? There are some real dodgy/left field names on the betting list but Paddy Power just like a bit of fun.

But OMG, as if we didn't have enough uncertainty going on. The one certainty is things can't get any more uncertain, surely?

BREAKING..... SkyBet has Craig Levein in at 4/1 joint fav with Tommy Wright. Lee McCulloch short odds 6/1 (12/1 with Paddy Power).

Compensated for what, exactly?

It's not the other clubs' fault that Hearts spunked millions on an over-aged, over-paid squad that only managed four league wins from thirty games.  Or that a viral pandemic shut down the league early.

The SFA can, and should, be involved.  They should hammer Hearts with bringing the game into disrepute by taking other member clubs to court.

I don't want them to get compensation: they believe they've been hard done to and deserve cash for that.

Think the SFA compliance officer is involved.

It's a bit rich coming from a club who, only 6 years ago, went into administration, chasing the dream to be the third biggest club in Scotland, and agreed to pay 2p in the pound to all their creditors.

They are in absolutely no position to take the moral high ground wrt compensation.

This is great news for The Rangers. No longer the most hated club in the SPFL!

I thought it was decent. Spence basically said what I posted earlier. (I'm not him ;) ).

For me it depends on these two factors:

1/ Are we continuing the club structure (Ashgar)?
2/ What division will we be in?

Barry Robson, John Collins, Alan Archibald, Ian Cathro, Jon Daly. They would all work under the structure with Ashgar.

Can't see Wright being interested with the structure nor can I see Levein coming back.  Derek Adams is a control freak.  Stuart McCall would be ok (Safe pair of hands, nothing exciting though).

Totally agree.

Levein or Wright would (you imagine) be the type of men who would want total autonomy over all aspects of the 1st team. Would they work with (or essentially) under Asghar? Would they be able to work at a club where the Chairman/owner is not easily accessible in the same building or on the end of a telephone at anytime?

I have my doubts.

I think it'll be a younger Manager we appoint.

With Brannigan gone and no direct replacement coming in, is that structure going to stay exactly the same?
Possible Asghar will have less day to day involvement in the football side.  Don’t know if it’ll work out like that but it does look like he’ll be getting some of that workload thrown his way.

I'm not sure what Tommy Wright said or didn't say, but Robbie Neilson said he was here for the long term and building the dream so basically it's all just words. Dollars do the talking.

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

I want an experienced coach in next please, a rookie manager (McCulloch included) is not what is required when dealing with our first season when the going gets tough.

If the system we have currently does not fit either Wright or Levein but could be adapted to get one of them then change the set up slightly to get the correct manager and don’t employ a yes man.

Tin hat on but I would like to see us return to the hard as nails side that Levein assembled with Dodds,Wilkie,Daly and Robson through the spine of the side with some exciting talent through on the wings.

Levein with either a Robson or Daly as number two for me.

Levein is one of our best ever managers but he seems to have lost his edge.  I think it might have something to do with his heart scare a year ago, he hasn't been the same since.

3 good names, I would be happy with any of them although I doubt the Motherwell manager would leave after getting them to a 3rd place finish and into Europe.

You could have a point with Levein but experience is what we will need next season and all 3 above have it.

I've no issue with Levein, but I'm sick to fuck of Hearts and just want nothing to do with anyone connected to them. I want someone who knows which side he's on while we are at war with these cunts.

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Folk suggesting that the Motherwell manager wouldn't come to us.

We apparently bid for Nisbet one of the hottest prospects in Scottish football, Motherwell have just signed the useless cunt Whyte from ICT and the even more useless cunt Scott Fox.

Maybe Robinson fancies a budget that allows him to stop shopping in skips?

See the likes of Clough and Lehmann - these guys have been on another world for most of there careers.

What I mean by that is, even Clough at a small club (in English terms) like Burton will have a budget that dwarfs ours.

These kind of guys come to Scotland thinking they will skoosh it and then get hit with reality when they see what kind of money they have to play with.

I honestly think we need to go for somebody like Wright - knows the game here inside out and did brilliant with Saints.

Throwing a name into the mix out of nowhere and defo with no substance....

Brad friedel.

Knows british football, is american and would be seen as a marquee signing. Currently a manager in the mls which may prove to be a bit too big a step for us but you never know 😉

Agreed, Heckingbottom and Stendel two prime examples, came up with no knowledge of the game up here and found it much tougher (and a higher standard) than they expected.

Too much commotion

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Great point and completely agree. These 'random' names who have never been to Scotland let alone played or managed are a big risk. I'm not saying they can't work but it's a massive risk.

I'm going for Wright, he proven to get results in the league. With a shoestring budget he has secured European football over the years and a Scottish Cup win. Would you take that as it stands today?? I know St Johnstone have never been seen as a pretty team to watch but i'm sure with the freedom of a bit more money Wright would like to play a bit more expansive football.

Certainly one not to be sniffed at. Has managed Derby, Sheff Utd and has done a pretty good job at Burton on probably one of the smaller budgets in league 1.

I agree with previous posts around managers who've been in England their whole career but I guess football is football...

I agree To a certain extent but Stephen Robinson of Motherwell came from Oldham who have a budget that possibly dwarfs ours and also with a very poor win ratio around 22% So not always the case. I'm not sure Clough's style of football though so I'd need to look that up. Suppose if it was Jen's you know he come from teams that play attacking game with young players under wenger and internationally.

Re: Who would you want as new Manager?

Im delighted that he has ruled himself out. Liked him at united but wasn't he one of the first to use bosman to leave tannadice after we forked out a record fee to get him in the first place?...i had a look at his managerial record.

Hearts caretaker. Played 2 lost 2
Falkirk. Relegated
Coventry. Started 10th, sacked in the relegation zone
Fleetwood. Avoided relegation
Pafos. Sacked sitting 2nd bottom
Carlisle. Sacked in relegation place

How can he even call himself a football manager?
