Totally wrong timing for this to happen!!!
1/ First the MD suddenly leaving, now Neilson going. I'm cynical but something stinks.
2/ Will Asghar go with him? Seem to work well together.
3/ Court case - a financial disaster for United if Hearts stay up in place of us.
Who's next?
All depends on finances, do we wait until the court case in late July to decide?
-Tommy Wright
-Craig Levein
-David Weir
David Weir? What?

Well I hope the club are even more determined to have these cunts kicked out of the league now, how fucking funny would that be!

Not too concerned at Robbie going, plenty of times I've wondered what he was doing during games, and after too.
A bit unsettling, however I'm sure the club have a strategy in place. These things happen.
I bet the season ticket holder who wins a dinner with Tony and Robbie is looking forward to It!

Surprised by this, but rather have somebody who believed in the club than someone who doesn’t. Never quite got over the antics at Paisley so not too bothered about him going. Not sure he’ll get the Jambos back up. We didn’t exactly do it in style with comfortably the best squad in the league by a country mile.

Crazy few hours there from just rumours to him actually now being appointed at Hearts. No point in being bitter or looking backwards, he has made his bed and it is definitely a big gamble on his part to go there especially after the banners above the stadium in his last spell.
Feel Ogren and United have taken the right stance by saying if he wants to speak to Hearts then hes not fully committed here. Hopefully next appointment we get right, have alot more faith in this regime appointing someone than previous....please no more Mixu's, Shaba's or Mckinnons!

A bit disappointed, yeah, but no overly so.
Wonder how much money came into it, I mean Neilson goin fae a Premiership Club, ourselves, to a Championship Club.
I notice Ashgar says in the Club Statement, that they had rejected Farts approach initially (I'd like to think that he telt Budgie to phuck-off), but then once again money talks.
As far as the smelly b@stards fae Edinhurgh are concerned, they can live up to their name, Farts of Midlothian.

Does this have any kind of bearing on the court case? What a fucking insane turn of events.

Ogren pretty much told Neilson to fuck off it seems, although not sure what expression was actually used.

No idea what the fuck is happening anymore tbh. I was busy all day and popped on to catch the latest chapter of Scottish pantomime season but could not fucking believe what I was reading.
Hearts seriously out to sabotage our season as much as possible. The disruption is going to have lasting repercussions for us this season, mark my words.

Mental how quick this has happened!
I liked Nielson, seemed like a genuine guy...
As manager he was a real dilemma for me - we looked great in some games but absolutely horrific in others - Alloa, QOtS, Arbroath- fuck me there were some really terrible performances at times over the 18 months he was in charge.
Overall not too fussed he is gone, however I suppose the thing that concerns me is that he seemed so bought into the club, the fans etc and he just seems to have ditched all of that in the blink of an eye as soon as Hertz have came calling.
Does that mean some bad shit is going on behind the scenes and he can see the writing on the wall? Probably not, but has to be a concern I guess.
Just hope we can get a good replacement appointed in plenty of time and the new man can keep what does appear to be a really good team-spirit that has been built up over the last 12 months.

Am I gutted Neilson is going? Not really think we’ve had better managers and at times his decisions have been a bit too negative for me.
I’m more reeling given the need for us to get ready for next season, all transfer stuff will have to stop now, players will be unsettled understandably given the quickness this has happened.
One positive appears to be Ogren’s apparent ‘if you’re not 100% on board then pack yer shit and fuck off’ that’s some big bollocks and not grovelling for him to stay.
Jesus Christ the UTD train is never a smooth Journey.

So Hearts can afford to pay 100k compo for Neilson but yet asked their players to take a wage cut.
I don't imagine that will be a popular decision amongst said players this evening.

I've looked all over bit I really do not have any fucks to be given regarding Neilson's departure.
Saved us looking for a new manager in October.
Hope he takes Pawlett and Cammy Smith away with him.

The image of him fist pumping after drawing with St Mirren who were down to 10 men should never have been accepted.
As others above have pointed out some real shocking performances during his time.
100 grand in the bank, Tommy Wright or Levein will be our next Manager I would think. I would like to see us go for a younger type manager though.

Players just back from a three month lay off, training just underway, signings lined up not to mention the new contracts Robbie just dished out, court case hanging over our head with the potential to sink us completely but you're not remotely concerned that the club that is threatening our very existence has just come and poached our manager?
I have nothing else to say.

You forgot to say that the new strips aren't out until the end of July/middle of August too.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying tbh. The problem isnt that Neilson wont be taking charge of the team anymore... its the instability that concerns me. This is a massive appointment for us and lets not kid ourselves that Robbie wasnt a good manager for us who will be hard to fully replace in the short term. Yes we had bad performances but so did every manager in our history. He had 1 job and he did it.
Am I overly disappointed he has left? No - but I feel uneasy about it in terms of the ramifications. As mentioned above, will it unsettle the players etc? Will our transfer business have to be put on hold until this is over? Very likely. Many posters on here and other sites have stated if we dont strengthen then we are straight back down... its impossible to deny that the court case and now RN leaving isnt going to have a negative impact on our season. Anyone saying this is a good deal for the club is not thinking straight imo. Stability is so key to a football club. We FINALLY had some for the first time since around 2012. It is certainly not gone... but it makes the next managerial appt massively important.
Wow! Struggling to take this in.
I saw RN as an improving manager/head coach & was perfectly happy to have him lead us into 20/21.
As Slateford in post #38 mentions he appeared to have bought into the ethos of the Club & we were developing a happy Tannadice family so his rather rapid departure is puzzling.
He did seem a good fit as did Forrest & McCulloch but he's offski in the blink of an eye. I don't know what the players & the rest of the staff think about GF & LM but conjecture might be a waste of time cos a) they may not be very good anyway or b) they'll be offski too.
Did not see this coming at all. What next God knows. Remember our record of appointing duff managers - whoever we appoint we have maybe a 20% chance of getting it right.
Afraid RN has just qualified for the duff manager XI - he's turned down his opportunity for redemption. Jackie, Mixu, Raymond, Csaba & now Robbie. That's 0%.

I think you maybe right about Weir. He is doing a MSD at Manchester Met. I wonder.....

Excellent post LEK, you sum it up well.

If we were to get Tommy Wright would. Wright and McCulloch be a good fit? I don’t know.
