Dundee United Question of the Day #15

Frank Kopel's Son (Scott) also played for Utd.

But he only ever played 1 match for the club?

Who were the opposition and what was the scoreline?

I was at the match, v FH of Iceland. A 2-2 draw at Tannadice.

Re: Dundee United Question of the Day #15

I know the 2/3 of the answer so won't spoil it

Somebody might remember this bit though, I think this was the game where Billy Thomson casualty stood back as a shot was going wide and it sneaked in.

Was that not the Radniki Nis home game? ETA no - talking bollocks as that was 2-0 United!

I could say it, but couldn't spell it! But they were known as FH.

That was the first. The Icelanders should probably have pumped us in that match. Lucky we'd won the first leg.

Although, mea culpa, I did miss the first half of a game against Dunfermline in September 1998, we were coming back from a family holiday in Florida, I drove directly from Manchester Airport to Tannadice but it was nearly 3.30pm before I dropped the family off then got parked.

So I have only missed half a game in 40 odd years. Never left early either.

So your whole family went directly to Tannadice after a lengthy overnight flight home and a good 5 hour drive right after? Left all the luggage in the car and hurried into Tannadice to catch the 2nd half against Dunfermline? Can someone sound the superfan alert please 😋

Can I suggest you re-read the post, I said I dropped the family off first. Essentially I let them and the luggage out at the front door of the house and hurried along to the game alone.

I don't class myself as a superfan, just someone who has given everything to United and isn't given any recognition in return. No big deal though, the club is bigger than me and always will be.

Erm...... I think its you that needs to read what you actually wrote..... "I drove directly from Manchester Airport to Tannadice"...... Your words not mine!

You seem to be wanting recognition but not to be identified, you're a mixed up kinda guy 😂

Point of order.......Dunfermline game was midweek.   Evening kick off.

Not saying you were but if 2 week holiday you would have missed game v Gers

If AlwaysUnited had learned how to use Arab Archive properly, he'd perhaps have realised his posting mistakes.
