Do we need a public statement from DUSF should they not just communicate with their members.
Hopefully I'm wrong and the statement is a short thank you and move on. However there's maybe a few large egos involved here.1. We absolutely need a public statement from the Foundation, I would imagine the overwhelming majority of United fans are expecting one urgently.
2. Mr Ogren has released a highly combatitive statement and it is the duty of DUSF to reply in full.
3. Once United fans have had a chance to digest the statement I hope and pray the foundation will see a surge in support from Arabs all over the world.
4. I suspect in the long run a place on the board in inevitable, it is healthier for the club to have fans voices being heard in the corridors of powers.
I'm a member of the foundation, have paid in since day one and will in all likeliness continue to do do.
However
1. I think you're overestimating what the fan base want/think, I think most fans just want to go to games, see a decent team on the park and aren't interested in politics.
2. Fair enough
3. If the fans never backed the Foundation when it was set up as a safety net with Thompson in charge, I think they're less likely to now, as we seem in safer hands.
4. As long as the fans voices are sensible, have a sense of perspective of what fans groups can contribute to the running of the club and can help steer it properly (At boodroom levels obviously, fully accepting that without fans the club is nothing)
Just how I see it, not knocking anyone's efforts, commitments or money they've raised, after all the shite under ST, Jackie, Martin, Laszlo etc fans were finally enjoying the football again and looking upwards.
You can pick apart any of the above, but I can only base my views on conversations ive had with fellow fans a lot of them simply couldn't be arsed with issues The Fed would raise, turned their noses up at Fans United and now a lot have turned on The Foundation based on one statement from 'someone' at the club.
Your point 1 sums it up for me.

Fans voices in the corridors of power as you put it is not necessary at all. Just because you support a club doesn't mean you know how to run it.
So you dont believe in 2 sides to every story then? Everything that comes out of the club is gospel ? That's a sad attitude to have.
I'm not saying the foundation should have any power.
I do think it's reasonable if they were handing over a considerable amount of cash(allegedly over 100k) then they should get something in return.

I don't really care what either side has to say about it.
Shares, loans of no interest to me🤷♂️
I just enjoy watching the terrors in action.
blazers ,lanyards , briefcases is not what supporting Utd is about for me.

Ok then. Why talk about it then lol
PS yet right about being a fan means you dont necessarily know how to run a football club. The thompson family were fine examples of that. Let's hope the ogrens dont follow the same path
Enjoy the rest of your day. I'm off out while the weather is good 👍

Why? The foundation is finished. Dead as a dodo. Kaput and done. The foundations sole reason is to allow fans to give a little extra to help with running the club - the club have stated they dont want it.
The only thing the foundation has to do now is work out what to do with a sum of money raised.
Do they:
1) give it to the club anyway
2) give it back to its members
3) donate it to a good cause (nhs? Local businesses? Football related projects)

Of course the Steering group can't agree to new proposals to release funds without running it by the members first. To say this statement came as a surprise is an understatement. Like us all can't wait to see the full detail. This director is behind the release, not Ogren, who leaves these matters to his lietenants.
Fidel, is it a director or a chief executive type person.

What is crystal clear, and I say this with great sadness, is that the club and fans are now at war.
Each fan must tonight look into their soul and decide which side they are on.
The side of true United fans who have been with the club through thick and thin, or the side of the owners.
Some supporters clubs will undoubtedly side with the club and its efforts to form a new foundation. They are entitled to do so.
Others will look to the past and make their own mind up.
You decide.A few thoughts:
The clubs statement was very badly judged and totally set the wrong tone.
The Foundation's response was even worse, especially the first paragraph.
(I pay into in the Foundation btw)
There is nothing here which cannot be solved by both parties growing up and taking a wee reality check.
The club should not be turning down a 6 figure sum even if it means issuing them with some shares.
The Foundation need to accept that Ogren is the owner.
But:
We have too many fans groups and their behaviour is a constant source of embarassment.
Fuck having to put up with another 5 years of the shite off the park we have endured, which the vast majority were sick to the back teeth of and had nothing to do with.
Make no mistake, this conflict seeped onto the park before and it will do so again.
In a football sense, we have made huge strides even though we are nowhere near there yet (a fact acknowledged by the manager).
And yet:
A cynic would suggest that you have been desperate for this to happen judging by the above post.
Bizarre behaviour.
Its pretty obvious to most on here who this is. If I'm right, he had his application refused by the Foundation, given his shite stirring record.....the only person blocked from being a member......lets leave it at that.

Utd with their Statement last night would seemingly like DUSF to be no more.
But just because they won't be giving the money to this current regime is by the by.
This regime (like all others) won't be here forever.
They may well want to sit on the money for a later date. That will be a decision for it's members.
I have to say i don't quite get the anger towards the DUSF here. They have tried to help the club out with a 6 figure sum...immediately.

Correctomundo. The foundation of fans will be around for years after the current "office bearers" have returned to Minneapolis.
Lets just wait and see how this plays out before we bury the fans. What club has ever existed without supporters? Just doesn't happen, does it.

Tek - equally it could be argued that I dont get the animosity towards the current owners. (Remember the initial wording)
I'm not a member of dusf - so guess it doesnt have a massive impact on me but can an organisation continue to collect money or hold onto a 6 figure sum with no clear plan as to why they are doing so, for an unknown time and to support an unknown new owner? What if 'the baldy snake' has a buy back clause, for instance or jimmy marr makes a move.
I just want the club to be together, with no infighting and focusing on the many many positives.
For the record, the ogrens have been solely responsible for most of these and bank rolled them - so find it difficult to turn on them so quickly.

You can't possibly say no Premier Division (I will concede Shankland unlikely as the previous owner ran the club well off the pitch and wouldn't let the wage/turnover ratio become the worst in Scotland).
I've nothing against the Ogren's personally, but let's get real for a minute. Some facts -
1) Their sole purpose here is to make money for themselves.
2) They don't have the same lifelong family connection to the club that previous owners had.
3) In the eyes of most fans, Ogren can do no wrong. It's the same with every rich owner (Romanov, Glaziers,
Allam et al). Come in with a blaze of glory and treated like gods, until their real motives are exposed.
May I suggest every United fan spends some time reading about Julius Caeser tonight.

To make as much money as possible and get out, regardless of how that impacts on the club. It's all sweetness and light until things go wrong and the fans turn on them.
To be clear I'm not accusing the Ogrens of this, but I am saying it happens time and time again with rich, outside, owners.
It's a shame that certain United fans who have done more than almost anyone for the club are ostracised at this time.

This thread is surreal.
Orgens have delivered as promised. Suspect good raft of signings to come. Plus once dust settles whopping season tickets sales. Yes bigger challenges to be faced but think its fair to say support reasonably content.
Don't think I've ever read such an agenda driven thread.
Remembering the opening post was edited as AlwaysUnited called Orgen a snake. Unbelievable.

Became champions yesterday but let's post a I know something about the owners .Disagree. Some fans go to all games, buy strips, hospitality etc., whereas other fans have seen United more times at Hampden than they have at Tannadice.
I'm not too pleased about the board's objectives myself. I fail to see how the club can have both a good playing side and make money which - as the owners have freely admitted - is the reason that they bought the club.
The only way a club in Scotland makes money is by selling their best players and this always negatively impacts the success of a club on the park. Always. Either you make money and are mediocre or you have a good side and make no money: those are two mutually exclusive positions. Relying on successive youth team players to make the step up after established players are sold on (which seems to be the plan) is risky and naive.
(Edit: typo)
Why bother then?
Maybe by this rationale we should just give up.
Honest to fuck.

Stop angsting on this shitty thread. DUSF may be a concern to some fair enough. But posting on here is grist for the mill for this " Always United "nut job.
Forget him. Last of me looking on here.
Better things to worry about.

You have no idea who I am, friend. I've put my heart and soul into United for no return. I wish you well and regret you feel you are unable to continue taking part in my discussion.
Anyway, its not about me. Its about the very future of our club. I am desperately hoping for a foundation statement tonight.

You really seem to have your knickers twisted very tightly. Heart and soul for no return? Really? No return? So you haven't enjoyed any if the highlights at all? 2010, 1994, 1983 for example? We are a provincial club who are not going to win things year on year but we have to absolutely enjoy the highs as much as we suffer the lows. But to say you've had no return for all you've apparently put in beggars the question, why fucking bother?
You're desperately waiting for a foundation statement while the rest of us are celebrating being champions and being promoted, says it all really 🤔

No fan is ostracised, and it's a quantum leap from illustrating the motives of 'some' owners, to painting the Ogrens with the same brush.

Celtic make money in Scotland while being successful. On a different scale to us, but our profits could be in line with our standing. To be fair, I have my doubts about how this might progress, but I don't think they are, as you say, mutually exclusive. It needn't be youth players we develop and sell.
