Unfortunately, we are being led by the telly and newspapers rather than, as Johnson claims, 'science'.
For example, the media runs with 'Stay Indoors'. That's not the advice. We are told we are in 'lockdown'. We aren't. The television news, every day, pan(dem)ics people by stating stark figures for coronavirus deaths, while these are probably deaths of poor folk who died with Covid-19 rather than because of it.
Like everyone else, i don't know how this will pan out, so I've not got a strong viewpoint as to what will happen. Keep an open mind.
On the plus side, apparently 400,000 people die every year in Europe due to conditions brought on by air pollution. The air has never been cleaner for over a hundred years than it is right now so surely we must be evening the balance slightly? No? 🤔I'm unsure, as many of the deaths in Europe have been, it appears, in the more polluted areas, which maybe indicates that as being a factor in deaths reported by the media as being Covid-19 fatalities.
There are plenty of conspiracy theorists out there who are quickly dismissed when they discuss the background to the disease, and the level of threat it offers. They are probably as factual as the official information we are being fed.
There'll definitely be history classes in 40 or 50 years on what we've done in the face of this. The way this has all gone, dont be surprised if this is standard practice going forward for new virus containment protocol no matter the virus. This is definitely a serious event but being plunged into an economic depression should never even be in the discussion.
We're headed for economic catastrophe over here in the states like you've never seen before. Unemployment rate already 5x higher than any point in history... wait till Thursday. If you're scared about the virus itself you've very likely got bigger problems on the horizon here soon, me included. The media/governments all over the planet been an absolute disgrace throughout. They'll be collecting paychecks no matter what while they tell you to be grateful that the measures they've imposed saved your life.
Id be playing the football at very least behind closed doors. Stream it,

It’s bizarre as hell to me. We’re continuing as normal. I have a work event on Saturday which will have at least 300 people in the same room. I really fear we’re sleep walking into a disaster. Now the olympics are cancelled the numbers are rising-no surprise there. If you think Boris and Trump are bad you can add our glorious feckwit with them. The most famous comedian in Japan just died from it so maybe they’ll start taking it a bit more seriously.

Scotland seems to be handling it a bit better than England, relatively speaking.
Quick look at figures, 1 in 38 chance of death after testing positive
Wales 1 in 24
NI 1 in 25
England 1 in 15
Slowing the progress. Hopefully.

Was just looking at those figures myself there.
I guess we don’t also have the mass population centres that England have like London, Birmingham and Manchester. More people in London than there is in the whole of our country. London will get hammered with this.
Would like to think folk here are a bit more pragmatic here than our English friends too when it comes to distancing, or perhaps that is me being too naive and we’ve just been relatively lucky so far.

As you say Slateford it's down to population density. I would certainly imagine there will be more deaths in Glasgow & Edinburgh than Sutherland or Skye.
But don't kid yourself about Scots being any different to the English , get yourself into B&M or Lidls and you will be amazed, some people don't give a fuck on both sides of the border.

From the Courier - Uefa warned that declaring the 2019/20 campaign null and void because of the coronavirus shutdown would put participation in European competition at risk.
I would think this has to be good news for us.

Did it not refer to ending the season with league placings as they are too. I assumed it to mean that they are expecting all governing bodies to ensure leagues are completed.
