Re: The Scottish Leagues have to be suspended

I was glad Utd came out and stated that their desire is for the current season to be finished.

That should be everyone's desire.

Even if we don't get to restart the season till August it could be completed fairly quickly.

It's the correct and fair way to do things.

I don't want it claimed forevermore that it's a 'tainted title'.

Re: The Scottish Leagues have to be suspended

It’s everyone’s preferred outcome.  What they need to tell us is what happens if it’s not possible to finish.  They’ve basically said nothing.

Update from Mal Brannigan.

Re: The Scottish Leagues have to be suspended

I get the feeling going by that interview that the club have heard the most likely way forward is the season getting concluded behind closed doors. Which would be disappointing.

But preferable to not completing the season at all.

Re: The Scottish Leagues have to be suspended

Think the main message from Mal B is that patience is required. Didn't feel his words indicated that 'closed door games' are likely, just he was covering unlikely scenarios.
I hope when we eventually play Alloa at home it's a Friday or Saturday though

But we'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, I hope we all stay relatively healthy, for that is the important issue right now.

Re: The Scottish Leagues have to be suspended

If it’s behind closed doors it would be nice to think we could watch on Arabzone, free to season ticket holders.

Re: The Scottish Leagues have to be suspended

We’re not going to be at a football game for a very long time, are we?

I can be guilty of blind optimism at times Slateford but under the current circumstance I don't think we'll see Dundee United play this year.
I'm going for JANUARY 2021 as the renaissance where the 2nd half of a league programme will kick off.
The nature of the league programme fuck knows.

Re: The Scottish Leagues have to be suspended

I'd be disappointed if the Scottish authorities take a lead from the English Leagues: if fact, with Brora being awarded the Highland League, which operates under the SFA's auspices, we've already taken a different approach at feeder league level to this development, if it happens, in England.

We'll have to wait and see.

Re: The Scottish Leagues have to be suspended

Would you believe that just 15 days ago (Thursday 12th March) we were picking the team for Morton?
Has that been the longest fortnight in history??

Re: The Scottish Leagues have to be suspended

Delay next stages to allow Leagues to finish the last few games and  take it from there.

Anything else is a Clusterfuck of self serviced shite.

How long you going to delay it for?? 3 months? 6 months? Clubs need their prize money pronto or some will go bust.

Think just of our club just now. Zero income coming in. Wages to be paid out for playing staff and non playing staff. How long do you think utd can do that for before it has serious implications.  Normally season tickets for the new season would be going on sale soon bringing in much needed revenue. That most likely wont happen either. Season has to be ended now.

As soon as wee Nicola even hints that restrictions might be lifted all the idiots will be straight back to normal life.  The 2nd wave of this virus will be worse than the 1st
It could be a hell of a longer  into the future before any football is played.

How does that work exactly? Surely the first wave where we were totally unprepared and there was absolutely no immunity would be worse than the secondary wave? Surely by that time we would have prepared and stocked vital equipment and medical supplies. Add to that, the NHS would also know a heck of a lot more, testing would be more widespread and of course we could be much closer to a vaccine by then. Not trying to be obtuse or anything, just not sure how you figure it would be worse next time.

Re: The Scottish Leagues have to be suspended

Based on people will not stay on lockdown for up to 12 weeks, some are ignoring it now.
Plus the virus as they always do will mutate and become more successful at living in the human body.
Financial pressure will force restrictions to be lifted sooner than they should.  People will start shouting for sport to restart and schools to re open.

Ah right, I was looking at it more from a medical viewpoint than a societal one. I think people, like the virus, will mutate and become more adapted to new rules for society. There will always be fucking imbeciles in society, but perhaps realisation will kick in as they start to lose people close to them. I still believe that next time round, the government, the NHS and society in general will cope better than they have this time. From a personal point of view, there are as yet no recorded cases in Burnley and I've not left my house for a week and a half, gonna have to risk tesco at some point today though 😕

Re: The Scottish Leagues have to be suspended

Its like going on a diet or joining the gym after Christmas start of with great intentions then after a couple of weeks it fuck this and back to normal.

On a side note is it just me who can't stand wee Nick saying unpreeeecented, instead of unprecented.

I don't have to put up with it down here to be honest 😂.

Tell you what does kinda pee me off though.. We are all confined to barracks while the government are all freely giving the virus to each other! So are they not actually following the fucking advice themselves? 🤔

Re: The Scottish Leagues have to be suspended

Unfortunately, we are being led by the telly and newspapers rather than, as Johnson claims, 'science'.

For example, the media runs with 'Stay Indoors'. That's not the advice. We are told we are in 'lockdown'. We aren't. The television news, every day, pan(dem)ics people by stating stark figures for coronavirus deaths, while these are probably deaths of poor folk who died with Covid-19 rather than because of it.

Like everyone else, i don't know how this will pan out, so I've not got a strong viewpoint as to what will happen. Keep an open mind.

On the plus side, apparently 400,000 people die every year in Europe due to conditions brought on by air pollution. The air has never been cleaner for over a hundred years than it is right now so surely we must be evening the balance slightly? No? 🤔

I'm unsure, as many of the deaths in Europe have been, it appears, in the more polluted areas, which maybe indicates that as being a factor in deaths reported by the media as being Covid-19 fatalities.

There are plenty of conspiracy theorists out there who are quickly dismissed when they discuss the background to the disease, and the level of threat it offers. They are probably as factual as the official information we are being fed.

Well spotted my typo there TEK.  In your part of the world it's apparently ok to refer to the terrors as Dindee  Yiniteeed.
Not acceptable
