What a lot of shite. You’re right we shouldn’t bother developing our own young talent because Alloa or Partick might get upset.
Exactly. Look after ourselves, since when has it been any different. OF answer wtf...

Once it is confirmed, what players would you like to see given a chance in the first team? For me:
Deniz (nothing to do with Benji, he just deserves a game or 2)
Kieran Freeman: could be an option for next season as back-up
Lewis Neilson: seems to be up there with Mochrie in terms of how highly rated he is. As a CB/CM though its harder to bleed him into those positions.
Chris Mochrie: has certainly shown in flashes what he can do. Would like to see him start a game and see what he was capable of.
Declan Glass: I know he's started 2 games already for us this season, but I want him to get a good run of games to get him as ready as possible for next season.
Here's a potential line up for one of our 'pointless' games towards the end of the season:
Deniz
Freeman
Neilson
Connolly
Robson
Butcher
Glass
Mochrie
McMullan
Appere
Shankland
Yes to all 5 of them.
But the changes have to be subtle.
Maybe 1 or 2 starting each week. The younger boys like Mochrie or Neilson making 20 minute cameos (for now).

That's not exactly what he said though. I agree, Dundee United first, we won't be in this division next season and anyone who says they will care about Alloa, Partick or Qots etc once we go up is talking shite. It's been a Hellish 4 seasons and all I care about is the future for Dundee United.

Equally our senior lads could go into holiday mode and the youngsters bust a gut to prove themselves.
Dont think anybody suggesting pulling a klopp.
Anyway deck partick - nice club horrible manager who revels in us getting beat

Giving youth a proper chance this season is risky until the league is won. Still risky after if it happens as it can hit the young players harder if they don't do great and take shit for it.
Neilson has a job to introduce them at the right time and right amount of game time.
Subby appearances with next generation 1st team players might be more common if we clinch promotion.
Doesn't take a lot of boo boys to be heard by a young player to dunt his progression if he's not got the mentality to handle it.

Nobody’s suggesting throwing a whole team of youngsters in at once, the league is already won, there’s no risk in giving some game time to some decent prospects.
Youngsters coming in at this stage of this season aren’t going to get grief from any boo boys either, but if they don’t have the mentality to cope with a little bit of stick, then we need to find that out as they’re no use in pro football.

If current points per game carries on we should have this wrapped up by end of play match 30.
Alloa (h) 21/3.

I'm going for Gayfield, the last Friday in March. Will need a ticket.
Scotland play Israel the night before at Hampden.
If Shankland gets called up but doesn't play or even just play's the last few minutes I wonder if Utd will still play him the next night.
We will need him more than Scotland does afterall.

I could be wrong but I think there is a 2 or 3 day rule for players returning from international duty.

Would feel wrong if Shankland wasn’t part of the team that confirmed the title really, given he’s the reason we’re winning it. Wonder if he’d go full John Terry?

If that's the case that would be very frustrating.
Particularly if he just sits on the bench all night.
I can't see him starting, certainly.

I think we will be into April before the league is won. I can see Ayr and ICT going on decent runs the way the fixtures go and I can see us continue to stumble. I can also see the Dees miss out on the play offs.

I, unfortunately, see them finishing second. We've proved this season that keeping clean sheets wins you games. Berra's legs are gone for the top league but he'll have a big impact on their defence which will allow consistency.

They’ve had 2 clean sheets in a row. Can see them finishing 2nd.

I think that would be a good thing tbh. I fear ICT and Ayr more so if they are second we'll defo be first.

Against Partick and Qots. Two teams who are bottom of the form table and the actual table.
McPake announced live on the radio a few weeks back that he literally has no idea how to combat teams who just sit in against them which is what the majority of teams will do against them. Teams like ICT, Ayr, Dunfermline are capable of beating them so I think this is a bit of a false dawn for them. Partick and Qots play a more open and attacking style of play which actually suits Dundee. No doubt that Berra will make them more organised at the back, but the same old issues will crop up for them.
Fwiw... I actually dont mind if they do go on a run and finish 2nd. Good luck to them. The most important thing for me is that they are not going to catch us.
The atmosphere in the last Derby of the season will be interesting. Party for us, but I do wonder how important a game it will be for them...

Not a chance Scotland would let Shankland play anyway with a possible game in just a few days time.
