Dundee Utd v Inverness 21/02/20

Friday night live on the TV again this week at home to 2nd place Inverness. Their form seems a bit up and down and this is their first league game since 1st of February. Their last league win was away to Dundee on the 4th of January.

We really need to get form back starting Friday with 3 points. We win Friday and that puts us 21 clear of Inverness who will still have 2 games in hand. They are still in the Scottish cup and to play the challenge cup final as well so a nice fixture build up for them.

Will we see the winger we had on trial sign this week and be able to play?
What do we all think of the line up for this then? I think he will start Bingham again but i would personally play Sporle left and Appere up top with Shankland. Would also start Declan Glass but again i dont think he will do that.
But i think he will go with the following..

Siegrist
Smith
Watson
Connolly
Robson
McMullan
Butcher
Powers
Appere
Bingham
Shankland

I'd put Reynolds in for Connolly and Harkes in for Powers, and get back as close as possible to what was serving us so well previously. Nicky Clark proving to be a huge miss in my book despite the people who believe he's not good enough for the step up.

Re: Dundee Utd v Inverness 21/02/20

21 ahead or 15 ahead (2 games in hand)

big difference, the latter & you’re kinda looking over your shoulder a bit.
We can essentially win the league on Friday night and hopefully set the tone for a good run in.

I don't disagree with that line up but I can see Pawlett for Appere and Reynolds back in the line up as well most likely for Watson

According to Paul Watson in the courier, he hasn't been injured. So Neilson is entirely at fault for leaving him out the last few games and deserves any criticism he gets.

But it's just as well Neilson is stubborn & clueless cos if he wasn't he would have got a better job by now with his record of winning a league by January.

Full-on arguments in the dressing room after Alloa as well seemingly according to Watson in the Courier.

Too much commotion

Too fucking right. The boys could easily have shrugged it off and done the old "we go again" attitude but no, they recognise it was pish and have a proper go at each other. Love to see it.

Friday night is not a must win BUT it is a massive chance to take our probability of winning this league to 99%.

Re: Dundee Utd v Inverness 21/02/20

Signing the winger would do us no harm, would maybe offer a contract to the end of the season, see what he is like.
Appere and McMullan will be back which should give us some more pace and creativity going forward.

My team would be:

----------------Benji

Smith Watson Connolly Robson

---------------Butcher

---McMullan Glass Appere

----Shankland Bingham

I feel like we need to get back to as close as we can get to the team we had on our long winning run.

I'd stick Reynolds in for Connolly but I wouldnt fuss too much either way as long as one of them partners Watson.

I'd play Harkes in midfield with Butcher in place of Glass.

Praying that McMullan and Appere can start as I dont know how much longer I can watch Pawlett playing out wide. Totally fine with him through the middle. Out wide, absolutely not.
