Alloa V's DUFC ~ Friday 14th February (7.05pm)

This Friday evening we are back at Alloa's Indrodill for our 2nd visit of the season against The Wasps.

We of course lost the previous meeting 1-0 on a very dissapointing evening, which also happened to be televised on a Friday night by the BBC.

Can Utd dish out a 'Valentine's Day Massacre' and gain revenge for that result, at a stadium that hasn't proven a 'happy hunting ground' for Utd over the years? Or will Alloa continue to be a bogey team of our's?

Team Gents?

Re: Alloa V's DUFC ~ Friday 14th February (7.05pm)

Hard to know with injuries etc but if a full squad then MY team would be:

----------------Benji
Smith Watson Butcher Robson
McMullan Harkes Powers Appere
-------Shankland Bingham

Likely RN team though will include Connolly and Pawlett.

Re: Alloa V's DUFC ~ Friday 14th February (7.05pm)

.                  Siegriest
Smith.  Watson.  Butcher.   Robson
McMullan.  Glass.  Powers.  Sporle
              Shankland. Appere

Mehmet, Connolly, Reynolds, Harkes, Bingham, Pawlett, Freeman.

McMullan needs to get back on it, been brutal recently.

If RN plays 2 defensive CM’s in this game he should be sacked.

What if he does and we win?

Although I agree Butcher and Powers is not the correct pairing for this game (as per my team)... the last game down there we didnt get near them in midfield and had no control. Its important that doesnt happen again.

Get the ball forward and attack, we should be controlling this game in the last third, not with defensive midfielders.

Re: Alloa V's DUFC ~ Friday 14th February (7.05pm)

I wouldn't have Peter Pawlett or Mark Reynolds in the squad, given their injury problems in the past and the plastic pitch, and would probably rest Mark Connolly as well. Other than that, it's hopefully our last outing on a fake surface this season, and I'll be happy with any sort of win. It'd be good to give the entire team a shake up, with Bingham, Mochrie and Freeman getting a start, and also Sporle and Glass, if fit.

Cannae be bothered going, they won't accept fake money for a fake surface.

I agree about Pawlett and Reynolds but as for drastic changes, no thanks. We need to get the consistency back.

Re: Alloa V's DUFC ~ Friday 14th February (7.05pm)

We got the shit kicked out of us last time at Alloa. Stanton Harkes & C Smith bullied out of the game.
We need Connolly, Butcher & Powers in the team.

Re: Alloa V's DUFC ~ Friday 14th February (7.05pm)

The last game was smack bang in the middle of the ‘square pegs / round holes’ bonanza.

He best have learned from that.

Win & a clean sheet please.

Re: Alloa V's DUFC ~ Friday 14th February (7.05pm)

---------------Benji
Smith Watson Reynolds Robson
--------------Butcher
----McMullan Harkes Sporle
------Bingham Shankland

The conditions and the pitch combined with Alloa's high pressing game, won't allow us to play football. We need to hit the front 2 for them to either chase down the channels and cause mistakes, knock it down or flick it on for McMullan, Harkes and Sporle running from midfield. Alloa will also narrow the pitch so we'll have to go down the middle and only use the wider areas when we can. Won't be pretty but 3 points is a must.

Re: Alloa V's DUFC ~ Friday 14th February (7.05pm)

Big result needed and a strong performance too off the back of the two games before the break. Maybe not the best game to come back to, particularly with the conditions.

id go -

benji

smith connolly watson robson

mcmullan butch power sporle

bingham shankland

only Sporle ahead of appere for more balls into the box, need to get it wide and provide Shankland with service. Be interesting to see what Bingham will be like, pace and power can only be a good thing, just hope we dont have another Lying on our hands.

Still think that we should have more than enough to see this one off as long as we dont go 1 nil down again to a soft goal.

Re: Alloa V's DUFC ~ Friday 14th February (7.05pm)

Shanks hasnt scored against Alloa this season. That in itself is enough to tell me he is going to score at least 2 to get himself caught up.

Flash quiz: who is the one other team that he HASNT scored against this season?

Got it LEKky with a minor check.
A team we're drawing 4-4 with after 3 games.

Harkes isnt defensive mid mate. Would expect him to be much more advanced than usual.

Re: Alloa V's DUFC ~ Friday 14th February (7.05pm)

It will be to try and match up with their 4-5-1 formation.  Very unwise to say only Alloa. We've lost 3x here in the last couple of years.
