Wouldn't be possible till the Summer unfortunately.

Possibly, however I do believe I read somewhere (probably speculation) that Turkish clubs can terminate an expiring contract immediately.

According to Jerry Dungle on here we can only sign players who were released by Jan 31st.

Not sure if that's correct but i have no reason to disbelieve him.

Re: Nadir wanting to come home?

I dont enjoy getting involved in the whole Nadir fiasco if I'm honest as it seems to have happened so often since relegation. But if he was to return for our Premiership season you would hear no complaints from this side.

It’s universal across football. You can’t register players who are registered to another club outwith a transfer window. Otherwise what would be the point in having a transfer window?

Re: Nadir wanting to come home?

You're alright Nads,

one of the baldy snakes better bits of business, getting a fee for this guy. Total liability.

I would take him back in a heartbeat tbh if available on a free which he will be in the summer. He was fantastic for us.

Re: Nadir wanting to come home?

Ciftci of his 1st spell I’d have no bother, liability or not.  The good far outweighs the bad.

Ciftci now, he’s done very little for a few years now, could he rediscover form? I’m not sure.

Re: Nadir wanting to come home?

When he was good it was great but became a liability and best bit of business ever getting £1.5m for a player who was under ban when transferred.

Did nothing after that and like every other returning player would be a liability again and unlikely to be a success.

We should just remember the good bits and move on.

Same debate every transfer window, a no from me.

Re: Nadir wanting to come home?

The ciftci liability thing

Had 2 red cards in his 2 seasons at united, 1 was over turned and one was for 2 bookings

The ban for the alleged strangling the assistant was questionable to say the least

Then u have the biting thing, terrible mistake on his behalf but never affected us as he was sold to Celtic

Since leaving he’s had 2 reds in 4 seasons, he’s a maverick and his day exceptional talent! Would have him back in a heart beat

Canna believe that people who have watched Emil Lyng and Craig Curran play up front for us recently wouldnt take Ciftci back. Your heads have gone lads.

Re: Nadir wanting to come home?

Current situation is that we are caught out light up front after a transfer window shut.

We need a decent striker.

I expect those in charge of recruitment are working hard to find some kind of solution.

Tough job for them and very risky marketplace now.

I'd be OK with Ciftci but hope their wide spread current market knowledge has other options to look at and assess before offering a contract to bail us out.

I expect we will sign a striker. Fuck knows who or when but have a feeling we will.

Re: Nadir wanting to come home?

The only doubt I'd have about Ciftci coming back is I can't see him and Shankland pairing up very well, Nadir is fine when he's the main man and can be quite selfish, which is ok when he's the main striker but I couldn't see Shankland being happy with Nadirs maverick style, hope I'm wrong if it does come to pass, of course.

Now Pav would be a different kettle of fish, I would think him and  Shankland would fit hand and glove, Pav used to work his socks off without going for the glory, and always thinking about the team and final result first and foremost, and fir me would be the perfect foil for Shankland, but who knows the recruitment team may pull a rabbit out of the hat and surprise us all, but I do hope they have a contingency plan?

I don't know a lot, but I know what I like!

Shankland and Ciftci as a pairing is something we will never see together unfortunately.

Be interesting.

Nonetheless, while Nadir has fallen down the pecking order at his club this season and is only getting a few minutes here and there, Pav is recently back in favour and scored a double at the weekend.

But for both, the best footballing periods of their careers to date have been at Tannadice.

Re: Nadir wanting to come home?

Ciftci has just posted a picture of him scoring that goal at Ibrox on his Instagram with the caption 'good memories last forever #gooddays'

He is coming home lads**

**probably not though.

Re: Nadir wanting to come home?

He is something I think we lack a bit of - a physical presence up top. Other than powers and butcher, we arent the strongest and don't bully other teams forwards.

What can we offer ciftci?  His career is going nowhere and if he came back, he would be loved....and I believe he is a confidence player...

Should we go for him? Probably not. Would I love it? Yup

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Think he's just looking for a few bites: we know what he's like.
