Think we may see 1 or 2 changes from Tuesday night. Not sure how we are for knocks etc but i think he will change it a bit.
Will be a tough game and i would like to see us get a convincing victory.
How do we think we will line up then?

bowers, I think we'll line up;
Siegrist
Smith Connolly Reynolds Robson
Pawlett Powers Butcher Harkes
Shankland
Sow
But I'd like to see:
Siegriest
Smith Watson Butcher Robson
McMullan Powers Glass Sporle
Shankland Appere.
At some point very soon I'd also be happy for Freeman to be given an opportunity.

Think he was out injured v QoS and Partick away? Played both Hibs games, not doing much, then didnt look like a footballer when he came off the bench v Morton. Maybe carrying something and needs a rest.
Pretty much confirms Pawlett will be starting today then.

Robbie stop fucking about with the team ffs. And awesome that we are now down to one striker for the season

The league isn’t as wrapped up as people think. We have been very poor for weeks now. Even the Partick game we were shite up until we scored. Too much pissing about with the team and playing his favourites rather than the players who have been playing well.
Recruitment needs to be looked at too. That bench today was shocking yet no one signed in January.
Offline
Said all January if we had even one or two players out we would struggle as the squad is wafer thin.
Today was a result that was coming.
Now have only one out and out Striker at the club. A bit of a shambles imo.
Been a bit too much 'back slapping' going on recently (fans and folk at the club). We've achieved nothing as yet and i felt by our lack of transfer activity yesterday folk at the club had decided 'job done'.
Which worried me because we haven't played well for a few weeks in truth and the squad needed freshened up, particulary in light of Clark and Stanton being no longer available this season (good percentage of our goals this season outside of Shankland).

We will still win the league but only because the other teams are all shite. That today was a disgrace though. Robbie needs to explain his selection decisions.

So shocked by that today, that I was dreading comin on here and reading what folk were saying.
It was a poor performance by most until Mochrie came on and Butch moved to the back. Did anychunt think we missed Reynolds when he went aff? Up until then, Arbroath were the better side. Then looked like we were trying to score, but just couldna. We didna seem to be able to play thru them.
Gonna stick my neck out here, and say that like the Morton gehm, thought that Sow did no bad the day. Couple oe no bad lay-offs, and passes, and at least he got stuck in.
Canna quite put my finger on whats goin on. There seemed to be a lack oe urgency for 75 mins. It was like the players had never met ane anither. We had plenty possession, but a lot oe that was back-passing, the ba goin back and forward, side to side. WTF is that ah aboot? Is Neilson tellin them to dae this? Am I the only one thinking this?
Canna take anything awa fae Arbroath, they're a good side and they defended well.
Probly Shanks worst game for us. Mainly caused by a complete lack of service esp. the 1st half. I mean how many times can anychunt remember him getting a pass in the box in the 1st half.
Like last week, there was wee bit oe a get oot oe jail card, thanks to Icy Tea only gettin the drah, but stil canna get our no bein able to score against Arbroath.
No wanting to be Dr Doom, but if we play like we did for the 1st 75 mins, against the likes oe the erse cheeks, they'll have us.
MOTM for me Smith.

it is very similar to earlier in the season when we had that bad couple of performances, too many changes for changes sake. And not recognising when its not working
I know some of the changes have been forced by injuries but there are some that have been a bit of fittng a square peg in a round hole

Certain players today looked out of their depth at Championship level: I don't like to name players specifically, but it seems to me that Robbie is trying to justify some of his more costly and high profile signings by giving them opportunities they don't deserve. Really time to accept some players have suffered too many injury and fitness issues, and pay them off as costly mistakes.
Robbie has had three transfer windows, and still, like previous managers, hasn't addressed the lack of width in the squad. It puzzles me.
On the game, Arbroath's central defenders looked levels above ours. I've not named them, but one of ours is annoyingly immobile while the other would be better if his arms were cut off.

not hard to work it out from that
Teams know we will play out from the back and in our last 2 league matches both teams have been set up to get back in position and invite us to break them down - and we have struggled, i would like us to mix it up more.

Do you still rate them ahead of Watson, Pat?

Think you are mixing me up with someone else, Tek. Watson been our best central defender this season (and last), but he too would be badly stretched in the top league.

I've constantly championed Watson over other central defenders we have, yet he'll be off in a few months.
The team I thought Robbie would pick today had 10 out of the 11.

100% on the money, I've watched 180 mins of us waltzing to the half way line then hit a brick wall, it's so slow and no offence but Powers slows it down even further.
Going back to front might be unfashionable but it can be very effective providing you hit Shankland feet.

Important to remember from yesterday that our starting 11 was missing FIVE players from our long winning run before Xmas.
Watson (apparently carrying a slight strain)
Harkes (should have played ahead of Powers yesterday imo)
McMullan, Clark, Appere - injured.
Its not easy to chop and change your squad that much and break down an organised team like Arbroath. Some of it can be put down to team selection but the vast majority of the blame has to go to the players yesterday. As mentioned above we needed to mix up our play.
As also mentioned on others posts, Cammy Smith. I think the conversation needs to be had that we need him for the run in.
With everyone fit (hopefully) this would be my team for Alloa.

C Smith suddenly seems to have improved as a player because UTD were very poor yesterday. He has proved he is not good enough a number of times, far better to persevere with Mochrie

I've heard this a few times now about us being better giving game time to Mochrie rather than play an experienced player. Why? What is this rush to give a 16 year old game time? Do we have designs on him playing at Ibrox, Parkhead and Pittodrie next season? I'd imagine not.
So why this importance on playing him now, when we still have games to win.
Boys like him are still a couple of years away from first team action in reality. And even then their introduction should be gradual and brought on at the right time.
It's asking too much of what is, still a schoolboy, to come on and win us games.
We need experienced, hardened players in against the likes of Arbroath to win these type of games, that are invariably a slog.
