I'm happy we didn't lose. We stood off them far too much and didn't show any real passion until the final quarter of the game. We scored 2 lovely goals though and our name is still in the hat. We will need to be a lot better at Easter Road but at least its a money spinner which may help us bring in another striker? We have won our last six away from home too so I guess anything is still possible.

Thought we looked like rabbits in the headlights for much of the game, the players needed to have more faith in themselves, stood off Hibs far too much. Two really good goals we scored though.

Robbie saying he's delighted with the performance 🙄. Well I wasn't, delighted that we fought back twice but the reality is that we could have lost heavily. Benji kept us in the game at times. Plus points were Appere, Benji and our clinical finishing from very few chances. Plus I thought we won our headers well all game. Only 2 of the three central defenders can start at Easter Road imo and Pawlett on the bench too. McMullan was very poor but it was his first game back so hopefully sharper in the replay.

I meant Central midfielders lol

Thought we were very poor in possession, wasteful, and at times uncharacteristically bad at controlling the ball. Some players seemed out of sorts, Harkes, Smith and McMullan coming to mind, while Pawlett still doesn't look fit to me, and Powers a bit awkward on the ball. That's half the outfield players!
I'm thinking we won't be as poor in the replay, while Hibs also looked sub-standard in defence. Hopefully that is what they are like all the time, and Allan, Kamberi and especially Boyle played above themselves today. However, Boyle looks to have worked at his game and is one of the best players in the top league.
I'd like to think we have a good chance in the replay, as Hibs have had mixed results at home this season.

Appere made a big difference for us when ge came on imo. Benji couple good saves done well.
Thought both teams were poor at the back. The were better in the midfield.Â
Robson/Connolly should have both done better for Hibs 2nd.
McMullan very poor i thought today and should have been subbed early 2nd half.Â
In the end draw you could say was a fair result with either team could have progressed today. We were nowhere near our best.Â

Thought we looked poor too, but a lot of that is really down to the fact that at that level we are. The CM, CH’s and wingers are too slow for the top league and honestly not good enough.

We were up against more pace and power than we have faced all season. At times it showed. A few players Smith and Watson for me looked edgy all day.
Powers for me MOM intelligent player both in and out of possession massive upgrade on Stanton Smith & King.
For me the biggest bugbear was poor decision making (McMullen in particular) throughout the side - I guess when you get away with it week in/out that's to be expected.
Oh...and Pawlett...is he too old to be Robbie's love child 🤔 ...otherwise his presence is inexplicable

I thought it was an enjoyable match for the neutral and a vintage Scottish Cup match with some good goals, saves and bits of play.
Yes, our general play was low on quality and our sloppiness in possession at times was very frustrating.
But we scored two good goals and showed a bit of character to not once but twice bring ourself off of the canvas to fight back.
You could say we rode our luck as we only had two shots on target all day and yet scored two goals. We will certainly have to play better at Easter Road on the 28th if we have any designs on progressing further in the tournament.
p.s. in terms of using today as a gauge for next season i think it was a good exercise. I think there are obviously 2 or 3 players who either aren't up to the step- up or are finished that level. But i think if we can get 3 or 4 quality additions in in the Summer we should be able to compete quite well. We also need a wee bit squad depth in certain areas.
p.p.s Louis Appéré's goal. Absolutely outstanding. We have a real talent on our hands with him. Big, strong, athletic, quick, skilfull and can take a goal. If the scout's were there today to watch Shankland i think it might have been Louis who caught their eyes.

Have had a scan through various platforms and forums and have to the stuff on here is by far the most negative. We weren't great but were playing against a team who are a big step up from anything we've faced this season. We also were trying to adjust to a new system and the loss of our main playmaker in Clark. McMullan and Smith either bottled it or were just shite (or out of their depth) but the rest stood up pretty well imho and we showed a lot of character albiet with a lot of poor decision making (most of which came from the two players mentioned above).

Should also say a wee word for Benjamin Siegrest.
A year ago i (along with many others) felt he was a bit of a bombscare at times.Â
Well he has developed into a very confident Goalie for us.
He was excellent again today with some great saves and safe handling at crosses.
Well done to him.

Benji’s been excellent for us for a while now. Having a defence he can trust has really settled him.
I got laughed off here for suggesting that he’s as good a keeper as we’ve had in the last decade, but I genuinely believe that. Rado for one was far more error prone IMO.
I think there’ll be a few teams down south watching his progress with interest.

Decent result and they were nothing special, never went today so had to endure the shite from Rob McLean, Thomson and Stewart. We have had games where in long spells recently when things haven't gone our way but we have a great knack of hanging in and doing enough to come away with the spoils.
Arbroath away, Qos away, first 40 vs Ayr, first 30 vs Thistle last week, Dundee's cup final all had similar spells where we were under a bit of pressure but we defend well as a team and when they do get through on goal the big fella never makes it easy and today was no different. I fancy us to do enough in the replay and a few weeks will give the likes of Pawlett, Butcher, Harkes, Robson and McMullan a few more weeks to get back up to speed.
As a few have said above Benji has really stood up when it matters in recent weeks a great stop against Dundee another vs Thistle at a critical time last week and that today in the dying minutes. Top class keeper at the right age and we might find in the coming weeks that it's he who sees bids coming in for him.

Agree with all this.
Also, Pawlett, McMullan & Robson maybe shouldn’t have started.
I feared the worst in the first 15/20 mins. But we grew into it and held our own for the most part. 4 good goals today and a right good cup tie

Didna post earlier coz I was straight off to Edinburgh right efter the gehm.
Despite what a number oe fowk sayed, I thought we played very well against a very good side the day.
Ye canna argue that Hibs are'na a good team. Well organised, some good moves and with pace we are'na used to. Oor passing let us doon a bit. Too many inaccurate passes lost us possession. And time to time we stood aff Hibs too much.
Thought the 1st goal for Hibs was an awfy p1sh ane to loss. 2 oe oor players followin Boyle, and then he slips the ba thru to Dodge boyo who comes oot oe naeplace. Powers canna block the pass and Watson canna block the shot.
We were p1ssin aboot alang the back as usual, then Watson puts a lang pass kinda thru the middle. Think it was McMullan that clipped it to Harkes, who brilliantly spots Shanks run inta the box. Great pass fae Harkes fir Shanks to baet the twa defenders and the keeper to score, a goal I think abody hoped and thought he would get the day.
My praise for Harkes was short lived tho. Twa mins inta the 2nd half, his cleverness leads to Hibs 2nd goal. We were just outside their box when Butch makes a pass to him, but he tries a quick tiptoe to Shanks that doesna come aff, and the Hibs player next to him collects the ba, and passes to the left wing. Guy runs 60 yards doon the left (Smith's oot oe position). Twa passes and then Boil-in-the-bag scores.
Eh scratched my haed before the gehm when I saw Appere on the bench, wondering how he wis'na getting a start. Well I was right. Shoulda been on fae the start right enough. Think it was Powers passed to him on the left wing. He turns and beats the Hibs player aside him, then cuts in toward the middle, and hits it low inta the right. Nae chunt fae Hibs challenges him in his move, but of coorse, naebody thinks he's gonna dae that.
Very chuffed we that. I thought we played very well against a very good side. We gave Hibs a dose oe the Heebee Jeebees the day. Eh thought this match would be a marker to show us how good or bad we are. Well it showed we can compete we mid-table Premiership teams.
MOTM for me Appere. Pr1ck oe the day. Clancy the clown.

Think our problem was the midfield and think that Neilson's tactics though ambitious contributed to this. Pawlett and Mcmullan offered very little going forward and never offer enough defensively. Both Hibs goals scored from us attacking them. Saying that i'm not overly concerned about where we are and moving forward and into the Premier League. Definitely grow into the game and hopefully the players learnt a lot from it. Â

Despite some people not thinking he done that well, I thought Powers played well yesterday and looks a good signing.
