Dundee Utd v Hibs - Sunday 19th January (3pm)

Utd have a 100% home record this season and indeed haven't lost a game at Tannadice in fact since March last year (when QotS beat us 1-2). But Hibs will definitely be a step-up in class, you would imagine, in terms of the quality of sides we have faced in recent times.

The results have been mixed for our opponents on Sunday, Hibs, since Jack Ross took over the reigns at Easter Road. There have been good wins registered against St.Johnstone, Aberdeen, Hearts and Motherwell, but also disappointing defeats thrown into the mix against Celtic, Ross County, the Rangers and most recently a convincing loss away to Livingston at the tail end of 2019 before the Leith men went on their 'Winter break'.

Their trip to Tannadice will be their first bit of action in over 3 weeks. Whether that makes them fresh or rusty, I guess we will find out in due course.

They currently sit 6th in the Scottish Premiership.

Tuesday 28th January at Easter Road should this go to a replay.

I would rather it was done and dusted on Sunday. Whatever the outcome is to be.

Will be a tough test. And they will have a fair following with them.

Of course. My mistake. 🙈

That East Fife match seems like a long, long time ago now. Another season, even.

Re: Dundee Utd v Hibs - Sunday 19th January (3pm)

Not too sure yet about a team for this one with so many short term injuries at the minute.

Neilson did say McMullan and Harkes should be back for it. Also what about Butcher?

Ill go for:

------------------Benji
Smith Watson Connolly Reynolds
McMullan Power Butcher Sporle
------------------Glass
--------------Shankland

If McMullan doesnt make it then Appere out on the right. If he went a flat 442 with Appere through the middle with Shankland in place of Glass then I also wouldnt be too fussed.

The biggest issue for us is the left back position. We’re really missing Robson.

We're really missing Robson? He's been out 1 game and we won 4-1

Re: Dundee Utd v Hibs - Sunday 19th January (3pm)

Tough game as you guys say, especially as Hibs have been very unpredictable so cannot really tell how its going to go. Positives is that we are at home and tannadice is a fortress these days, as well as that confidence should be high with recent results.

I worry too about left back area with boyles pace in behind against probably reynolds and will also be interesting to see our centre halfs up against some decent strikers for a change.

team id go for is

benji

smith watson connolly reynolds

butch power (think these two could win the game for us by dominating midfield/ volleying scott allan)

mcmullan if fit.     pawlett.    appere

shankland

shame on glass i know but id prefer abit more experience in the middle, although with pawlett only just back, glass would come on.

I wonder if this is why Freeman played LB for the Reserves today.

I did notice that, big game to chuck him in to however he does well, there’s our answer to the problem of robson being out cause I’m no sure I’m keen on Reynolds there, did reasonably well on sat but I can see him getting targeted, and I like Reynolds at centre half gets his critics, but he’s a steady Eddy, and has improved our defence no doubts about it

That's what I think will happen too. A boy at my work's son played in the Utd youth system for years near enough until he left and says Freeman wasn't actually technically brilliant but was all about pace and power and would run through a brick wall. Probably decent shout against Boyle.

Too much commotion

Re: Dundee Utd v Hibs - Sunday 19th January (3pm)

Reynolds lacks pace these days but has the experience to hopefully make up for it. Boyle is possibly the best winger out with the OF in this country, just unlucky to be missing Robson, it would’ve been a good experience for him.
