The "Perfect Hat- Trick"

Lawrence Shankland scored his 3rd hat-trick for Utd yesterday afternoon.

But this one was a wee bit more rare in that it was a 'perfect hat-trick'. For those unfamiliar with the phrase it means your goals have been scored by your head, right foot and left foot.

I can think of at least 3 other Utd players who have also accomplished this feat in tangerine. But i won't say.

How many others can you guys name, other than Shankland and the 3 (probably easy) one's that spring to my mind?

Nae cheating.

Re: The "Perfect Hat- Trick"

Billy Dodds, Jon Daly and maybe Pettigrew?

Or maybe Johnny Russell.

Well, that was quick (particulary at this hour).

Billy Dodds v St.Johnstone away on his full debut (I was there).

Jon Daly v Falkirk away (wasn't there, but watched it on live telly).

Johnny Russell v Killie away. The last hat-trick a Utd player had notched away from Tannadice full-stop, until yesterday. Again I was lucky enough to be there, Johnny gave the ultimate Centre Forward's performance that day imo.

Not sure on Willie P as he was just a wee bit before my time watching DUFC.

But i'm sure others on here can confirm or deny and chip in with one or two others.

Re: The "Perfect Hat- Trick"

Jim McIntyre might have done this against Kilmarnock at Tannadice around 2004. First goal was a header and 3rd was left footed into top corner, can't remember the second one

Also he's scored a hat trick of headers in the same season, surely unique in Scotland at least?

Re: The "Perfect Hat- Trick"

I reckon he will bag at least two more hat tricks this season too

Re: The "Perfect Hat- Trick"

Kevin Gallacher scored a header, left and right foot, at Hamilton over thirty years ago.

Christ so he did.

I should have remembered that. My old man took me to that game.

Had to go back some time, and will be happy if anyone can put me right on this, Peter McKay got four hat tricks for two seasons in a row, 1948-49, and 1949-50.

On another track, that wasn't Lawrence Shankland's first 'perfect hat trick' of his career, as he got two last season.

One was in the LC v Stenhousemuir, the other was in the game against.................

...... wait for it...................

..............us! He also got a penalty goal in that match to finish with four goals.

EDIT: looked further back, Arthur Milne got SIX hat tricks in season 1935-36.
