Agreed new deal, delighted our most important player hands down, shankland gets all the plaudits but for me when he’s not playing we’re not even half the team with him
Been immense since being back, seems to love it here also
Online!
Doesn't say how long the new deal is? Great news though

Don’t get even close to the credit he deserves. For some reason there is a perception that he’s a red card waiting to happen, yet he’s only been sent off twice in over sixty games.
Agree with you SuperMario, as much of a miss as Shankland when he’s not fit.

I’d go as far as to say he’s a bigger miss than Shankland when he’s not playing, if Shankland’s out, we’ve still got players who can get goals, if Butcher’s out, we don’t have anybody else who can win the battles in midfield.

Agree based on so far but we've done fine in 1 game without Shankland. All depends on how Nicky Clark continues his crackin stats this season & Appèrè plays & how the rest chip in with goals.

Very happy that Butcher has a new deal. Very important player for us.

Also very happy with this.
Big player for us. Could become a club legend.

Yep happy with this. He’s been excellent most games he’s played this season, definitely an improved player compared to the first time he was with us.

I am guilty of thinking he had been sent off more than that for some reason, although I am not sure why.
I remember him being sent off in a game around the Christmas period at St Johnstone in conceding a penalty in a game St Johnstone won 3-0.
I also recall the clown MacNamara making something daft like 8 or 9 changes to the team for some bizarre reason.

Remember that day too. Had Aberdeen a few days later so McNamara decided to rotate the team completely. Backfired when Butch was sent off for pulling back Stevie May. May went on to score the penalty, then a hat trick, and we lost 3-0. We then proceeded to lose 2-1 to Aberdeen a few days later iirc. Summed his management up.

Was that the same game in Perth that wanknamara left a player on who was injured for majority of the game?
Butcher has surprised me since coming back. I didnt have much hope when we re-signed him but he has done well.

Morris didn’t play for us in that season.

Was 100% Morris

The Butcher sending off and Morris 'playing injured' games at Perth were almost a year apart to the day in late December, the first 2013, the second 2014. Both matches underlined McNamara's stupidity.

Which will take him through his peak up until he is 32. Perfect length of contract imo.

Happy with this news.

I'm delighted with this news. For whatever reason Butcher isnae everyone's cup of tea but, in my opinion, he fits the bill perfectly for us.
He has also bucked the trend of it never being a good idea to sign a player that has previously played for you. Butcher 2.0 is far better than Butcher 1.0.
Great business.
