Every single member of the squad is listed as a sub. It was a surprise he wasn’t used and we can see why now. People need to stop losing their shit over this.

It's our shit to lose, mate. But keep yours if you want to.....

Chances we would lose him as with any player for some games through the season, fingers crossed it minor stuff.
Feet up next two weeks, we have enough to beat Morton without him but the most important thing-don't rush him back.

At the game we were surprised that McBurnie was brought on instead of Shankland, there was alot of grumbles from alot of boys around us but if he was carrying a strain then it makes sense. Reckon that by the time he travelled it was too late to pull out the game and made sense just to stick him on the bench and not play him.
Least he should be fine for Morton, no more damage done and the right thing has happened now he's out, glad clarke managed the situation well enough. Shouldnt be a drama made out of it.

Seems he said this, yes. But I'd be happier to have him fully fit for later games than bring him in if he isn't 100% sure of his fitness.
That said, I'm a wee bit pissed off he's got injured in training with Scotland.

Scott Burns reporting it as a muscle tear on his thigh (albeit a small one).
Expected to be out for a minimum of two weeks but probably more.

Its one of them no win situations, Im happy that Shankland has the chance to play for scotland and lets face it they are crying out for a striker just now with him more than deserving of his call up but i obviously want him to be fit for every game for United aswell. Think it might be harsh to blame Scotland as the facts on how and whats happened still have not really surfaced. Hopefully as Tek has said its 2 weeks or so, the break is quite welcoming now and he is back in time for alloa or even arbroath, the others in the squad have shown that they are more than capable of stepping up to the mark when he isnt there.

He got the injury training with Scotland. That's the fact.

I'm fucking raging! Like others I saw this coming. We can't afford playing for a tuppenny-ha'penny team such as Scotland. Never mind that other United players are stepping up to the plate and scoring goals, he is the top scorer by a mile and we, his home club and wage-payer, need him in our drive for promotion. Certainly he could have been injured anywhere at any time but, as B&T posted, he got the injury training with Scotland. Should never have been there in the first place.....
I am totally scunnered with our national team. They may win occasionally but in the main are a fucking embarrassment!

Injuries are part and parcel of football. There was much chance that Shankland could’ve played against queens and gone off injured as there was with him being injured away with Scotland. Of course it’s disappointing but it was unlikely he would’ve been able to play 36 of 36 this season and we showed last week that we can cope without on the off chance he misses out.

Let’s just hope Morton sign a 20st centre half like queens had. Or play Brian McLean.

My opinion is as valid as yours. Delighted to play for a rubbish team like Scotland? Injured in training for playing in a Mickey Mouse team when he should have been with United? Are we expected to say "Oh well, it's happened before so that's OK then" And you tell me to get a grip!!

Let's try to put a more positive spin on this. If it is a slight muscle tear it was probably going to happen anyway. Better in the middle of an international weekend with us having a blank weekend this weekend, the team firing on all cylinders without him and some on paper easier games coming up. That way he should be fit for the Ayr/Dundee double header and hopefully fitter for the rest of the winter. So if it was going to happen, probably better now than later.

Over reaction or what?
" should never have been there in the first place" really?
How long do you think players will stay at a club that thwarts their international ambitions? Not that any club has the right to do that anyway. I'm as gutted as anyone about Lawrence picking up an injury but seriously mate, have a word with yourself.
