Willing to bid 2 million.
But the source is the Scottish S*n.
So, pinch of salt an all that.

There's going to be a lot of stories like this, we are in the Scottish second tier and basically a nonentity as far as English teams are concerned. They will offer a fistful of fivers and expect us to be grateful, luckily the Yank won't be as easy to impress as the baldy snake was.

Mr Ogren is at Dundee Utd to make money for himself mate.
We got Lawrence for nothing in July.
A 2 million pound profit in just 5 months would be (on paper) outstanding business for him.
That said, if we keep him till the Summer and we can keep him fit the boy could score 40 goals for us this season. Big if, granted.
Which would in turn attract bigger bids in the Summer window. He'll only be at Utd for this season, sadly. Might as well just enjoy him whilst we can.

He also has a vision for the club, and has spent double that trying to achieve it. He isn't going to blow promotion for a quick buck in January, we have Lawrence on a three year deal remember. Anyone wanting him in January will still be wanting him in the summer and if he stays fit could have forty plus goals by then, price is very unlikely to be falling.

The revenue we will receive by getting promoted will bring Mr ogren some reward and shanks will most likely be worth more by then anyway. Absolutely no sense in selling in January, I'm not worried at all.

IMO
Shankland will not go anywhere in January. We do not need to sell during that window. The Ograns and Asghar will be fully aware what happened before and selling up in Jan could have a terrible impact on us.
I fully expect him to go in the summer. And for more than the 2 million being quoted in the Scum

Straight from the horses mouth, Ogren and Asghar are well aware of where things went wrong with the previous owner, Mr. A. They know that by selling Shankland in January, they’d completely destroy all the trust and goodwill they’ve worked hard to build up with the support.

100% agree with this. Absolutely nothing to gain from selling him in January

1 news story and there’s already United fans getting excited about the money.
Anyone who thinks money in January is more important than Shankland staying is an idiot.

Very doubtful there's substance to the story. My only worry presently with Lawrence Shankland is the possibility of his head getting turned when he's away with Scotland, either if casual chat has the players talking about the money they are earning, or if a club manager asks a player on duty with Scotland to have a 'quiet word' with our striker about the possibilities of a move to that manager's club.

I'm certainly not.
We could sell him for 10 million and i'll still be gutted to see him go.
Goal scorers the quality of Shankland are rarely seen at Tannadice and we could throw a lot of money at it to find his replacement and not succeed.

I know you’re not, but the usual comments about getting the money in have started and it does my head in.

I'm sure there will be many more "exclusives" about Shankland in the media in the run up to the transfer window.
My advice, just ignore it all and focus on the games. QOS next.

Agree. Shankland seems level headed tae. Dont get me wrong he knows this is a stepping stone to bigger things but I think he'll be happy enough to stay till the end of season.

Quite, and if Shankland was all that anxious to play in the English championship he'd have gone there this summer.

Rather than making a quick buck........
surely we'd get more for him in the Summer, and of course if we do go up with his help, then theres the extra money from the TV deal. ( dont know what that amounts to, but if somedy could put a figure on it ).
There's also the extra money from the bigger attendances. And how much do we get for going up.

Thanks fir posting that Bowers. Glad to see Mr Ogren agreeing with what I was saying, to some degree at least.

Not Forest in January, but they might be a more cash rich option in the Summer if they get promotion to the English Premier League. So much cash washing about for teams who go up to the top league down south.
I hope they finish second, or win the play-off.
