If he continues this form for the remainder of the season and onto next for us hopefully in the top league i think we could break the club record transfer fee that we have received.

Queens Park tweeted this picture from their club account earlier on today.
Lawrence Shankland and Andy Robertson celebrating a goal together at Hampden, 7 years ago.
Class.

bowers, I'm not sure that anyone would come up with a £4 million plus bid for a Scottish league player in this day and age, but you never know.
For comparison, the fee for John McGinn last year was, according to transfermarkt, £2.79. But I think there was a substantial sell on clause, given Hibs had to give St Mirren 30% of that fee (so in reality they received lass than £2 million).
That said, it's better not to think of the club selling Lawrence Shankland: it's not as if the fans benefit from a player leaving, no matter the fee.

Like i say mate he continues this form into next season and into the top league then why cant we get that?
Celtic were about to pay silly money for that Motherwell player in the summer. There us silly money thrown about all over football as we all know.

Tony Ashgar saying that Shankland is not the highest earner at the club apparently. I find that hard to believe but if true does speak volumes for the lad and means people waving cheque books around might not matter much to him and his ambition for the future.

I don't expect the Ogrens to make a cunt of the Shankland situation. Partly due to the length of contract he's on and need for promotion so I hope they see his call up as a help to their hand in this escapade.
I said a long time ago that they would prove themselves well if they could just get him to us and having done that and how he's started with us I will be surprised and gutted as well as loosing faith in them and their good start if they let him go at the wrong time for the wrong fee.

Hahahahaha, I know what you mean bud.
Lawrence has been excellent for us and a credit to our club since he signed.
As I’m temporarily out with the city I’m really enjoying saying he not only plays for United but he also is contributing for our country.
Our national team has lacked a ‘number 9’ for a while, but tonight I’m proud to say we are providing that number 9 that this country has lacked.

Hopefully see some of the TT lads at Alloa on Friday, Lawrence will be full of confidence so predicting a hat-trick on Friday. Come on United!!!

Hahaha that's more like it 😉. I think we are all worried about him getting injured, but if it's gonna happen then it's gonna happen tbh. Hopefully it's not in the stars and he stays fit all season. I lost interest in the national team a long time ago with all the trawling round the English non league looking for any cunt with a Scottish grandparent. To have a genuine Dundee United striker leading the line for Scotland might just re ignite the fire for me. All in all, we'll done Lawrence and let's hope you can carry it on all season! FTD!

Absolutely delighted for him. As hard as it is with Scotland just now it should always be a players proudest moment to represent your country. It makes me proud that it's a Dundee United player getting the call....

Since it’s quiet, can I explain my apparent antipathy towards Lawrence Shankland receiving a call up?
I’m pleased for the recognition the player is receiving, and I’m sure many at the club share that satisfaction.
My aversion is towards the SFA as an organisation, not Scotland as an international football team. For a long number of years, the SFA has been a failing administration, dragging our national sport into the gutter on many occasions. The failure to succeed in reaching European and World finals competitions over many years is obvious evidence of this, while the level of such as refereeing standards and player development continues to dismay.
Unfortunately, the SFA use the Scotland national team as a vehicle for their own excesses: recall the Georgia away match four years ago, where the players were forced to eat in a Burger King and sleep in the waiting areas when a scheduled flight was delayed, while officials organised a five-star hotel for themselves? Or the employment of McLeish to help bail him out of financial difficulties when he was very far down the list of suitable candidates for the manager’s job?
I don’t go to Scotland games nowadays, having been a keen supporter for a long number of years. Hardly even bother watching on TV.
So yes, I hope Lawence Shankland does well for the Scottish international football team. But I’d like to think the SFA don’t try to take any reflected credit. They don’t deserve any.

If Shankland stays injury free with Scotland I'm happy.
If he actually plays & does well and scores it's a good thing, plays & doesn't do well it's a good thing in a sense as vulture clubs might be put aff or delayed.
All boils down to how the Ogrens want to set the tone running the club and making money out of investments they already stated they were after doing.
If ST was still in charge I'd be dungin it.
This is a chance for our new owners to create an impression, fan backing & real belief on top of their good start if they handle the Shankland situation well.

If the snake was in charge he'd be gone. Hopefully The Ogrens are sensible and hold on to him for at least this season. If they sell in January then imo, that's worse than thompson selling gms and Armstrong. Promotion is a MUST this season. Selling shankland would devastate the team and probably be the final nail in the coffin for a lot of fans.

If the snake was in charge we would never have signed Shankland in the first place.
I have no worries at all that Shankland will be sold in January, January 2021 at the earliest IMO.

Don’t fear us selling him in January, next summer is a real possibility though, dare I say, even probability. Best case scenario, he scores a few goals for Scotland and establishes himself as the country’s No. 9 in that time, that along with us being back in the Premier League, his contract still having 2 years to run from next summer not to mention our club’s reputation for producing successful footballers in England would allow us to command in excess of £5M for the boy.
It’s a shame that we most likely won’t get to enjoy seeing Shankland scoring goals in tangerine for an extended period, but being unable to keep your best players is the reality for every club in the country, Celtic and Rangers included, club’s down south and elsewhere can offer these boys almost generational wealth and think nothing of handing over the paltry fees that Scottish teams demand.
You’ve just got to accept our place in the food chain and enjoy the fact that he plays for United right now, what happens after is out of our control.

With Oli McBurnie pulling out off the Scotland squad it's looking like Shankland has a more likely chance of game time on Thursday & Sunday.

Good luck to him. Will be backing Scotland 100% and Lawrence 200%.

Burke will start on Thursday. Shankland will start against San Marino IMHO.

Not a single out and out number 9 in the squad now. Almost certain sir Lawrence will get minutes one way or another.

Bagged a couple of free tickets for this, gonna take the wee man.
He’s 8 and never been to Hampden. First of many trips, hopefully

Excellent. Seems to be a good few Arabs takin Wee Arabs tae this.
Hopefully Shankland gets his chance and gets a goal & yer wee lad gets a Hampden experience to remember.
LoA 12/5 to be an anytime goalscorer tonight. Favourite.
Johnny Russell 19/5. 3rd favourite.
Stuart Armstrong 11/2. 6th favourite.
Correct score odds are 15/4 for 1-0 Russia which is very low odds for any correct score.
William Hill odds.

Lawrence starts on the bench. Presumably going with Burke through the middle by the looks of things.

On for debut at half time.

He only had 5 or 6 limited involvements in the 2nd half and only 1 could be seen as not working out(with 3 defenders around him and nae support).
So called experts/pundits claimed being thrown intae this match could kill him as a prospect and I'm sure as fk that didn't happen.
Please give him a start v San Marino. Let them see what he can do if he actually gets service of any kind which he had absolutely none of tonight.
