Great post mate. It would be a huge risk to replace him and anyway it ain’t gonna happen. I’d like to see Pawlette on the bench and Appere up front with Shankland. I have also been keen on Cammy getting more game time but it just doesn’t work for the boy. We need to try Sporle again in a central attacking mode as that made a massive difference yesterday.
Don't think Sporle was in a central attacking role, kdyteejay: was he not playing off the left, with McMullan taking on a central position?
That's PMcM's best position, for me, but we have too many players who seem to favour that area of the park, and not enough wide men. And I thought it was McMullan, other than Shankland of course, who changed the game, luckily, in our favour yesterday.
Maybe Sporle will be a good option to play wide left, he changed the dynamic down that side.

Ram your your boo boy patter. In fact take a wee holiday from here. Feel free to make it a permanent one, if you so wish.🖒
Boys entitled to an opinion surely.?
He is and he's expressed it.
But i'm not having boys on here insulted and called boo boys for their's when they live and breathe the club.
As it is about half or more of his 17 posts have just been digs at other supporters opinions.

It’s fair enough supporting Neilson, at the end of the day footballs a results business and we’re top at the moment.
Folk criticising him or even calling for him to go aren’t booboys though. If folk are honest then there wouldn’t be a United supporter alive that would agree with his starting tactics the last 2 weeks.

Wasn’t at the game yesterday as I was coming home from holiday. I did listen to it on Arabzone and was as frustrated as everyone for the first 88 mins. I get that folk get pissed off with poor performances and some want Neilson out. My question is who would you replace him with? Hi so have tried something different with Heckingbotham and that hasn’t worked out too well. I just don’t want to end up with someone like McCall or someone like him. As far as I can see Neilson is as good as we are liable to attract just now.

Sorry, wide left was what I meant.

Fair enough.

Couldn’t make the game yesterday, first game at Tanny I’ve missed in months. By all accounts we were s.hite. However, strongly disagree with binning Neilson. He does need to stop pissing about with the team and tactics though, also playing folk in their correct positions would help.
We are top of the league, have sometimes played some good stuff and gave the Fun 6 so there are positives.
Need to get behind the team and manager as we always do.
Seriously hope Neilson learns some lessons quickly. Still think he is the man to take us up.

Well we'd probably be in the Premiership for starters.
Or have you forgotten about his negative as fuck tactics in both legs against St.Mirren?

Yeah, the end of last season was disappointing.
We have shown this season we can dig in & get a result, and away from home too.
15 points from 18 is an excellent start. And the manager is going nowhere.
You see the names in the hat for the Thistle job, that’s what we’d be choosing from.
Lennon, Hughes, Stubbs, Duffy, McIntyre etc

I'm not impressed with Neilson but I'm not shouting for his head . . . Yet.
I do believe we would aim higher than the usual suspects who are up for the Partick job, our owners and director of Sport or whatever Asghar title is have far too much ambition.

Whilst I am over the rant from the weekend, I still think our manager is found wanting at times( McCall has his measure) but even if he was to be fired, which he won't, I very much doubt our chairman would be going down the tired old route of failed Scottish managers. More likely some innovative American coach.

I do agree that he shouldn’t be mucking about needlessly with the starting 11.
He did ‘get away with one’ on Sat there. Shankland to the rescue

Still sack him?

I wouldn't this weekend, no.
But then, he actually went for it and played an attacking formation with attacking wing backs and we witnessed what the team is capable of.
Keep that up and any criticism's will dissapear.
p.s. he deserves a lot of credit for today. Even got his subs and their timings spot-on.

Credit to Robbie Neilson for the result today. It'd be churlish to try to dress it up otherwise.
As for the players (and this maybe should go on the match thread), although Shankland got the MotM from sponsors, McMullan was outstanding.
The defence wasn't under much threat, Brown did well on his home debut and Reynolds continues to concern me. Liam Smith covered well, but is very one footed. Watson too did a job, but generally Morton weren't seen as an attacking force.
Sporle is something else, very fit and with good feet from a life of training in the Argentinean Tango. Pawlett had a very good first 20-25 minutes but appears to struggle for fitness over ninety. Harkes was steady as was Butcher.
The subs also performed well, but it will be easier making an entrance when the team is winning well.
Pleased to see the intent from the outset, hope we maintain that in every game where possible.
Finally, the referee: absolute shit again. A simple example: universally, each substitution adds 30 second to the match time. 6 subs used equals 3 minutes, then add on the players down injured in the second period (with Muir booking one for coming on the park without permission).
Yet he added around 4 seconds to the ninety minutes.

I get the feeling Robbie's napper will be on the chopping board after every game this season that we drop points. Which is a shame but its just indicative of the high standard of player he has brought into the club. With the players we have, every game is winnable. 2 games on plastic to come though so I expect some challenging matches coming up.

We wont win every game thats a fact. However its the manner in which a game is lost whether its due to formation team selection or just a bad day at the office on the players part. RN has to take the flack when its his fault.

You're right GC2, it was in the aftermath of the Lichties game.
So I read again some of the comments and got a good giggle.
Would the 'Neilson Out' brigade be in favour of keeping him for at least another 6 days?
Or do you think we should act now?
Dearie dearie me

Started before the game finished actually, whilst we were staring at a home defeat to Arbroath, just to be factual and in perspective 😉
