He was at the Arbroath game too. He always sits in the posh seats in between the JK and the JYM stands.

Question: If the club are having problems accomodating all the ST holders (got sympathy with them due to the horrendous logistics of it, not helped it would appear, by the amount of punters who have not heeded the clubs advice to form bubbles of between 6-15 people) why don't they open the Jim McLean Stand to let more in?

It can't be because potentially disgruntled punters will be too close to the directors box and the dugout for comfort surely???

Ogren has put in 350k a month since the pandemic. What? So he has put in around 5M pounds over the past 16 months?

What happened to the -

19/20 Scottish Championship prize winning money
20/21 Utd Season Ticket sales
Robbie Neilson (and backroom staff) compo money
20/21 Home/away kit revenue
20/21 Utd merchandise revenue
20/21 Utd PPV sales (home and away supporters)
21/22 Utd Season Ticket Sales
21/22 Home/Away Kit revenue
21/22 Utd Merchandise revenue
£2.1M grant from the Scottish Government

?

The numbers don't quite add up. That's a substantial amount of money into the club, despite the obvious problems the pandemic brought (to every club).

Has Ogren been paid a lot of that money back, off of the above? Wtf is going on?

We seem to be continually seen as a club living 'hand to mouth', despite our supporters putting their hands in their pockets constantly to buy season tickets, strips, merchandise, DUTV, Hospo etc etc. We, as a support, spend a collective fortune. And more, than most of us can individually justify.

Yet, clubs just 30 minutes away like StJ or 80 minutes away like Motherwell, have no such qualms, and despite the pandemic are able to have success, sign players, upgrade their stadium, etc etc.

Meanwhile we have signed ONE outfield player in two transfer windows.

Who's fault is this?

Tell you who's fault it isn't = the Utd support

Fucking brilliant post. Would also add in:

Furlough payments
Wage cuts

If it's costing that much to keep the lights on, I'd be changing electricity suppliers. Something doesn't add up imho.

I had an argument with some pap on Twitter who was trying to blame all our problems on the Utd support's negativity. The boy was an Actuary and Investment Consultant and by the looks of his Twitter had never posted about Utd (or football in fact) before. Where did he get that idea then?

Never even mentioned the two 6 figure donations from DUSF.

Member’s Update following the Q&A at the AGM on Saturday 31 July 2021
Tony Asghar (TA) confirmed that Mark Ogren was still at United for the long term and the sustainability plan was still being pursued. This involved rearing our own players and identifying players with other clubs who we could improve and ultimately sell on , a conveyor belt approach. He also confirmed that funds of around £350k a month had been input by the owner to keep the Club going during the pandemic, which showed and proved commitment beyond words.

He accepted that his use word negative in relation to some fans may be better described as concerned. TA confirmed that the previous model was unsustainable but even at this stage of the Clubs plan the Club was worth a lot more due to the numerous assets they now had on the field and in the pipeline. TA confirmed that the Head Coach position had to buy into the Clubs vision and plan and that the Club would not change this at the request of a Head Coach. Thus Tam Courts (TC) had been appointed as he was known to the management , was totally on board re the vision and plan, as that was one of the reasons he left Kelty Hearts to join United, and importantly knew the players and staff at all levels. Micky Mellon had left by mutual agreement as he did not share the vision and plan moving forward.

The plan for recruitment did not involve trialists rather individuals were identified and then pursued, even if this involved having to buy the player. Previously plans had been reactive and this was not how the current management operated. We had recently lost two potential signings one who opted to sign for a team who could provide European football this season and another who was concerned about the existing competition within the team already for their position (goalkeeper). TC confirmed a winger had been identified who was an internationalist and could play on either flank and recently had be

Not everyone has or can afford DUTV.

My point is you shouldn't have to pay to get basic info about your club.

Lewis Ferguson is only 7 months older than Logan Chalmers. Both 21. Ferguson has been in the full Scotland squad and played about 150 competitive games. Chalmers has played about 30 odd games, most of which from the bench. If Chalmers isn't ready for it physically and mentally now he's never going to be.

Agree that Mochrie and Chalmers look like they have the build of a fag paper. Ferguson was built like a tank yesterday (didn't stop him going down every time a Utd player went near him mind you).

It's time for the hype to stop from the club and be replaced with some action. Play these laddies if they are as good as we keep getting told or get them out on loan to free up space for new players who are battle ready.

Unfortunately, I still think our young players are for selling, not for playing. Interesting strategy though, trying to attract potential buyers through endless hype in the media, rather than ever actually showing off their talents on the park for any sustained period.

That Aberdeen game was quality. Charlie Miller was dropped after falling out with McCall and came on and turned the game. It was most memorable for a pissed up lassie in the Aberdeen end in the JK who was hurling abuse down at the Utd support in the ET lower to which we responded "Your kids are goin into care!" When we scored the winner this reached a crecsendo and the stewards came and tried to chuck her out because she was cracking up at the stick she was getting. Magic. Great days. Well actually, football wise it was pretty crap days but being in my twenties and getting pished at every game then going out on a Saturday night was braw if Utd won.

I think we would have got promoted that year if Fyvie and Fraser had stayed fit but the rest of the team were no where near the standard required so might have been no bad thing in the long run. Fyvie's confidence to ask for the ball in tight situations, awareness to keep it then ability to use it really did make most players around him better.

Agreed. The pre-injury Fyvie and Fraser working in tamdem in the current team would have solved a lot of the problems we currently have.

Some credit to East Fife who played well, and it stifled us.

Good finish by Pawlett. So for that he's my MOTM.

East Fife did work hard. But then again, it's easy to look good when your opponent wins the ball in a positive position then turns backwards pissing about passing it to defenders while the opposition get back into shape literally EVERY time.

We are winning here through a shocking error by their defender but the performance is absolutely awful. No attacking ambition whatsoever. Lacklustre all over the park. Dire to watch. Identical to last season actually. The tactic of trying to use full-backs who are not that great at attacking to provide width hasn't worked here. All they do when they receive the ball is turn back the way and play it back to the defenders, a combination of nothing to hit in front of them, the lack of a trick to go and try and beat the defender and the lack of confidence/willingness to open their body and get the ball out of their feet and look for a forward pass.
