Excellent hard fought point.
Svelje has become a really important player for us.
He hasn't half, another great performance today.
I think there’s an argument that he’s now our best player. Outstanding.
Dundee United » January Transfer Window » 02/12/2024 8:27 pm |
No rumours at all at the moment from what I’ve seen but window opens in 4 weeks so assume we’ll have our eye on a few potential signings.
I don’t think we desperately need anyone and I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how well we’ve coped with injuries to key players like Graham, Trapanovski, Docherty, Strain, Sibbald and Moult, however I’d like to think if there’s a player who can improve us and is affordable that we will look to strengthen.
I think cover for Ferry would be good but difficult to get someone in to sit on the bench every week (think Ferry has played pretty much every minute this season). A striker with pace is still lacking but we do have 3 senior centre forwards plus Stirton and usually only start with 1 up top.

Great 3 points if not a great performance.
3 centre backs defended very well throughout and Walton had very little to do (apart from smash the boy!).
One thing that struck me today was how good our loan signings have been. All 4 have contributed massively - Walton, Adeboyega, Stephenson and Dalby. Will be sorry to see them leave at the end of the season and think they’ll all go on to have very good careers. Fair play to Goodwin and his recruitment guy for bringing them in though, to get 4/4 successes on loan is a tremendous hit rate when you consider some of the dross we’ve had from down south on loan previously!!
Also, is Sevelj and Stephenson now our best pairing in midfield? Will Sibbald and Docherty be back up once they’re fit? I think that may be the case, Sevelj been fantastic these last 3 games and with Strain playing well at RWB you have to find room for Stephenson in the team somewhere.
Dundee United » Season ticket sales including half STs » 27/11/2024 6:26 pm |
Yeah season ticket sales are very impressive, as are attendances in general.
We should definitely be keeping the shed for the sheep visit on 29 December. Think we would easily sell out the three stands for that match between Christmas and New Year.

Any word on injuries to Gallagher and Trapanovski?
Listening to the dode fox podcast this morning they were saying Trapanovski was holding his hamstring in the warm up before the game….
Was Gallagher definitely injured? At the game I thought he was hooked because he was playing poorly and had been booked.
Not sure, he was limping about for a bit in first half but not sure if that was why he was subbed. As you say he wasn’t having a good game and was also booked.

Not seen either penalty shout yet but Hibs seem to be raging that they never got their claim as it was stronger than what we got one for.
Pleasing to see us get the rub of the green for once, but by Christ we were poor and very lucky to get a point today.
Dundee United » Anders Holch Povlsen » 22/10/2024 8:03 pm |
FC Midtjylland's owner, Anders Holch Povlsen, is looking at a new club for the collaboration, which already includes several clubs in addition to the Danish champions.
After FC Midtjylland extremely disappointingly missed the medal playoffs in the spring of 2023, the club has certainly turned up the volume with player purchases and facilities.
In May this year, it threw off a championship after a dramatic final spurt with Brøndby IF, FC Copenhagen and FC Nordsjælland.
And the ambitions and courage for more are at their peak, even though the defending Danish champions could report a deficit of DKK 85 million before tax during the international break.
Because after two years of massive player acquisitions, a new training facility and an expansion of the stadium with a new VIP lounge and fan zone, FCM owner Anders Holch Povlsen and his people through The Football Collective, the company that owns FCM and Mafra, have according to Tipsbladet's information been looking at a new club.
Thus, FC Midtjylland's owner and his people have investigated the possibility of buying into the Scottish club Dundee United and, among other things, checked what it takes legally and practically to buy into the Scottish traditional club.
The club is in the top half of Scotland's Premiership after promotion in the summer, but there have been rumours and stories for a long time about American owner Mark Ogren, who bought Dundee United at the end of 2018, and how long he will stay at the club.
Anders Holch Povlsen owns FC Midtjylland through Heartland and is now also looking at partner clubs in other countries in addition to the existing agreements with CD Mafra (Portugal) and Ebedei (Nigeria). Photo: Alamy
Dundee United returned to the top flight in 2020 after four years in the Championship, but to the great disappointment of the fans, they were relegated again in 2023 before being relegated back to the top flight in the spring of 2024.
Mark Ogren has spent over 100 million kroner

Googled.
There is actually a Middleton, a small hamlet in Perth/Kinross.
No places called Mackay or Carlyle, that i could find.
There’s a Middleton in Midlothian as well, just south of Gorebridge.

Dundee United » Utd Vs Rangers - Sunday 15th September (NOON) » 11/9/2024 1:25 pm |
Obviously that’s great that the home end’s sold out but there’s certain to be loads of empty seats in the GF lower as a result of free u12 season tickets not being used. I’ve heard of some folk taking out couple free u12 tickets with their own seat so when their mates go to the odd game they can sit with them (dunno how common this is). Whilst free under 12s is a great initiative I think a nominal charge would be better, say £10-£15 for u12 season tickets as this would ensure they’re properly used.
I also think for sold out games such as this Utd should do more to get fans who aren’t going to be attending to get in touch with the club so they can re-release their seats to Utd fans who would still like to buy a ticket.
Finally, if these high home crowds continue I hope Utd consider keeping the shed for home fans like we do v Dundee. Certainly hope we do this v Aberdeen in December when there will be huge demand from home and away fans .

Yeah watched first half and he was OK, had a few efforts on goal. Defender got sent off right on half time and Babunski was then sacrificed for another defender at the interval. Will be fine for Sunday.

Great 3 points
Adegboyega had his best game for us. Big Ross Graham solid as a rock and another vital goal. Thought Sibbald more like his old self today.

if he was only here for a year , does that mean we wouldn't have been due a development fee if he walked away in the summer?
We’d get something but not as much as a player who had been in our academy for years. If he had indicated he wouldn’t sign a new deal, sadly the club have probably done the right thing, as shite as it is to lose a promising talent.
Dundee United » Utd Vs St.Johnstone - Saturday 24th September » 25/8/2024 9:59 am |
I do think that one of Goodwin’s biggest strengths is his recruitment- Ferry and Traponovski on free transfers and 3 year deals is brilliant business. Ferry has been our most consistent player and Trapanovski has a level of skill higher than any other winger in the league outside the old firm IMO, think he’ll only get better too.
On VDS I agree be good to see him get a goal soon but he hasn’t really looked like scoring or being in a position to score other than when he squared to Thomson in first minute at Dingwall, he’s doing well though, very hardworking and unselfish. Agree that a fast striker playing off him could be effective.
