Re: What a depressing Summer Window

Far from depressing, disappointing yes.

We have seen alot of dead wood shipped out which is good. However i think we will still see 4/5 players arrive before the window shuts. Of course we would have liked to have seen them all in before now but it rarely happens in football.

How would you describe this Summer window, in United terms?

After the January fire sale it was always going to be a quieter window with manager now tweaking his squad rather than wholesale changes.

Going into our first Championship game in 3 days.

Very simple question.

Do you think our first team is stronger than it was in Paisley?

Yes or No?

Hmmm. Not sure. Gk department is stronger. RB stronger. LB weaker. Midfield much the sane. Strikers , I think shankland will score more than safranko.

Re: What a depressing Summer Window

I think a dose of realism is needed here. I'm all for setting expectations but they need to be realistic. We were never going to out and sign a squad of Galacticos. If someone had said after the play-off that we would sign Shankland, we'd have said they are off their head!

I'm sure Asghar and co had targets in mind, but just because United wanted them it doesn't mean they want to come here.
We're about to start our fourth season in the 2nd tier and we're not as an attractive proposition as we were a few years ago.

I think we're stronger that last season but we all thought that this time last year....

Tend to agree with b&t. LB worries me and we need a winger and someone in midfield who can go at defenders and be able to play the front players in. Overall we are marginally stronger.

Whether we’re strong enough to win the league I’m not so sure.

Also agree with b and t.

Left back still a bit of a worry. Personally would also like a strong CH brought in and another guid striker. ( Safranko please )

Looking forward to the game on Saturday against the Highland hammer throwers though.

PS one thing I would say is I suspect that Robbie is a couple of defeats away from a complete meltdown in some sections of our support. Definitely get that vibe the now. Hopefully that does not materialise. Over to you Robbie and the players. Arabest for the season.

The thing is, if he was seen to be trying different formations and was a bit more positive in his approach to improve our performance levels and the results then he would be offered some serious slack from the fans, but his problem is that he keeps trying the same negative tactics over and over again.  Also, I think the the fact that he lines up the same way regardless of who we are playing doesn't endear him that much to the fans

In saying that, if he tried too many different tactics, he might be labelled as not knowing what he was doing, so there would have to be a happy medium in there.

I agree with you on the tactics it is one of my biggest frustrations in the last number of years that we seem to stick to the same tactics and nothing evolves or changes based on how we feel we can exploit the oppositions weaknesses.

I think some of the signings are positive and while i am not overly enthused by them I am optimistic we are signing more selectively over the January scatter gun approach where only a few added to the team.  Also optimistic about Appere he seems to be a reasonably physical striker that can impose on defenses, early days yet for him but what we have been crying out for in recent seasons
