If you go on last night, we literally need a whole new team. But realistically, if Robbie can look at the players he currently has available and think we can win this league then he is having a laugh.
If Pawlett and Sow are fully fit then its a much better looking balance we have, but will they ever be? C Smith injured I had confirmed last night by someone. So theres 3 of our most 'experienced' attacking players all unavailable.
I like the sound of Frear if he is an actual winger that can actually cross a ball into the box, will wait and see on that one.
As much as I want them to succeed we cant rely on Banks, Appere, Chalmers to have any sort of impact this season. I'm certain they will have some, and are all very promising, but in this league we need a starting 11 we can rely on week in week out. Without the above mentioned Injured players we are miles away from that.
Also what does Adam King have to do to get a start?
Terrified by Sporle defensively. His positioning for the first goal was horrific. I could have played that pass in behind him. Surely we've not signed a LB who Robson is defensively superior to?
Poor wee McMullan.
Shit off a shovel but couldn't cross a road.

The more I watch us, the more I realise we’re gonna rely on Shankland’s goalscoring ability to dig us out of a hole. The least we could do is get him a proper partner.Yeah, Shankland is pretty good isn't he. Didn't realise he has such an edge to his game tho. Makes Pavol look like a shrinking violet. He's definitely Safranko-plus. But you see his two efforts, crossbar 1st half, volley 2nd half? I've got a horrible feeling that last season they would have gone in.
He’ll end up getting bogged down by the shite around him.
We're needing a defence-splitter but to be fair so are most clubs.
Nicky Clark is not the answer, if you must play him put him up alongside Shankland.
Cammy Smith might be a better bet but all we've got just now is Stanton who at least runs at the defence with the ball at his feet.

My view is that Neilson's tactics are appalling and that this pish of 1 up front and playing a natural goalscorer like Clark in the number 10 role is a joke. The football played is absolutely rank rotten. Get a proper 4-4-2 this pishy formation and tactics does not work, if he continues with it there is no doubt it will cost him his job.

Yup, I think Safranko’s work rate, running into channels, hold up play and arial ability, coupled with Shankland’s intelligence, instincts and goal scoring ability would be an absolutely incredible partnership.
I’d still like to Sow get a chance next to Shankland. I’ve been much more sympathetic to Sow than most united fans have and I’m desperate for it to work up for him as I’m such everyone is but surely he must be a better option than Nicky Clark who has offered absolutely zero in all four betfred cup games?

Clark's not been played in his natural position tho.

I was waiting for that excuse. It’s not as if he is being played in goal, he is playing just off the main striker and for a lot of the game last night he was as high up the pitch as Clark. The fact he isn’t playing in his ‘natural’ position doesn’t excuse the fact he is incapable of making 8 out of every 10 passes.

It's not an excuse. Mearly pointing out his best position is in the penalty box. You could say that about the whole team last night re making passes.
Incidentally I dont think Sow is the answer. I cant see him playing much in a tangerine Jersey again.

Kyle Lafferty’s just left Sevco. He was on our shortlist of potential strikers at the start of the window prior to signing Shankland.
Man’s a chunt, but does anyone think he’d make a decent target man for Lawrence to play off of?

Yes, he'd tear this league up.

Any fresh rumours going around? I still have an inkling we will be sniffing around Stevie May after his move to St J fell through. Dundee just signed a striker (Danny Johnstone - Motherwell) so maybe unlikely they are still in for him.
St Mirren and Killie also credited with interest but would he prefer a move to one of the Dundee clubs due to location?
Also this winger situation, someone said before we were after Elliot Frear? Any more on that?

not a rumour, but a question?
What’s Lewis Morgan up to? Loaned anywhere?
He would bring balance to our side at the end of the park it’s needed.
