Callum Butcher

think we might have found a rough diamond in the middle of the park....thoughts

Re: Callum Butcher

I think we have as well.

The team looked instantly better once he came on on Saturday.

He loves a 50/50 but you know what?I actually think he looks very neat+tidy in possession too.he also never just sat back but looked to support the offensive players when he could.

He's really stepping up now and it's about time Rankin and Paton had serious competition there.

Re: Callum Butcher

Always thought there was a player in there. Not seen him much of late so good to hear.

Re: Callum Butcher

The bit when he dummied the ball, taking out two of their players in the process led to our second goal.

He must be a cert to play against Celtic in a few weeks. Hopefully he can give Broony a taste of his own medicine. He'll probably get sent off mind you.

Too much commotion

Re: Callum Butcher

Would've expected him to be useful as 1 of the 2 in a 4231 but he's actually been excellent in the 3 of that formation and as 1 in the offensive 4 of a 4141. The latter for me because I thought he was a no nonsense defender but I've seen him now as much more than that.

Re: Callum Butcher

He's more skilful than I thought which Is pleasing. His strength and presence Is something we've lacked.

Re: Callum Butcher

Delighted to see him getting another chance tbh.

Thought the Fermers game last season was the end of him in a Utd shirt but he hasn't let us down this season in his couple of games he's been involved.

Well done Callum, keep it going young man!!

Re: Callum Butcher

Good to see the manager get some reward for not giving up on his signings, hopefully Bilate comes good in time too

Re: Callum Butcher

Again it shows the beauty of the development squad...forget results, just develop players and try them out in different positions

Re: Callum Butcher

I thought he was good at centre back. A better Sean Dillon on our hands.

Re: Callum Butcher

Ever since he shoulda got sent off in his debut at Partick Thistle, he's looked a no nonsense player wha gets ripped right in.

Not enough of them IMO.

Re: Callum Butcher

Always liked Butcher, looks like he could be a player.

Out of contract in the summer so he can start speaking to clubs in a few weeks.

Re: Callum Butcher

Would like to see him start v Ross County. His 50-50 v Goodwin was brilliant. Also, as others have said, there is more to his game than just tough tackles but it is something we need a bit more of. Also things like a bit of roughing up, pushing and shoving the opposition a bit more and making our presence felt made a difference on Sat when he came on.

Re: Callum Butcher

Needs to watch his tackles, the Ross County player was sent off for a challenge that was arguably no worse than the one he got booked for imo resulting in JMaC wisely taking him off.

Re: Callum Butcher

I was impressed with his touch looked comfortable in that position but he is the type of boy who will get a few red cards along the way. Love his determination to stick with us and win a place in the team!

Re: Callum Butcher

He's free to talk to clubs and sign a pre-contract with someone in just 3 weeks time.

I would like us to get him signed up on a new deal asap.

Good young player in the making there.
