What positions are still up for grabs?

With the new league season now less than two weeks away, what do we think our best 11 is currently looking like and who is certain of being first choice?

For me:

GK: 100% Benji to start but I suspect Deniz to really push him as the weeks go on.

RB: Smith. No questions there.

LB: Sporle for me. Still early days but as a footballer he is miles ahead of Robson in my opinion. Feels like he is going to be given a good run in the team to settle in.

CB: Connolly and Reynolds. Not everyones favourites but I think they will do well and are certain of a start.

RM: McMullan.

LM: Up for grabs. Lots of players who can play there. Options will be Pawlett, C Smith (although not his best position), Banks and Chalmers.

CM: Butcher certain to start. 1 other place up for grabs for Stanton/Harkes/King. Bouhenna as Butchers backup probably.

ST: Shankland and Clark probably both cemented.

So I'm thinking thats 1 CM spot and LM with currently no no1 choice. Interesting to see who Robbie goes with.

I think Clark will leave before the end of August. Although Robbie has been playing him in most matches, I seem to recall interest from QoS and thought he might be going there as a replacement for Dobbie. However, Dobbie has been playing and scoring so far, thus this might be nonsense.

Is Cammy Smith injured just now? I've never understood Robbie playing Nicky Clark out of position while he has Cammy Smith in the playing squad.

Agree about Smith/Clark. Would love to see Cammy get a run with Shankland. But Robbie's made it clear Clark is first choice I feel. Canna see him leaving.

Re: What positions are still up for grabs?

Clark is a good Championship striker.

If he doesn’t hit the post with that sitter v Caley, he’s our top scorer last season. He gets some unfair grief at times.

Re: What positions are still up for grabs?

Clark’s good will score goals in this league would be stupid to get rid

Left midfield and another centre mid are currently only up positions that I’m slightly worried about
