Re: Most Emotional Track Ever - Round 2/Game 3

Thanks for the numbers Pat.

The 2nd game of Round 2 witnessed victory registered for the track "Make It Easy On Yourself" by The Walker Brothers. This victory will ensure it's progression into the Quarter Final stage of the competition. The track eliminated at this juncture is 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' by Simon & Garfunkel.

Round 2/Game 3 -

Radiohead - How To Disappear Completely

Released - 2nd October 2000
Written By - Radiohead
Songs Background - There have many theories amongst Radiohead fans as to the meaning of the song. Some have surmised the song is about depression, anxiety, even Thom Yorke feeling suicidal. The Radiohead frontman himself has said that this was the only song he actually purposely wrote for the album it appeared on ( "Kid A") and he song was an interpretation of how he was feeling at the time, which was extremely burnt-out after the release, marketing and touring of previous album "Ok Computer", and that he felt extremely 'unhinged' and on the verge of walking away from the band and music all-together as a consequence.

Eva Cassidy - Autumn Leaves

Released - May 1996
Written By - Joseph Kosma, Johnny Mercer and Jacques Prevert
Songs Background - Written in late Wartime this jazz standard was written by French composer Joseph Kosma and lyrics by fellow Frenchman Jacques Prevert, and later adapted to English language by Johnny Mercer.

Eva Cassidy's version was recorded 'as live' at a Jazz club in Washington D.C. in January 1996 and released 4 months later. During the promotional events for this live album Cassidy noted a pain in her hips, which she attributed to stiffness from painting murals
while perched atop a stepladder. The pain persisted and X-rays revealed a fracture. Further tests sadly found that cancer had spread to her bones, causing the fracture, as well as to her lungs.

Her health deteriorated rapidly and tragically,  Cassidy would die in November, just 6 months after first realising her initial symptoms.

Voting Closes Tomorrow (Saturday 20th July) at 10PM
