The final match of Round 1 was yet another contest that was decided by just a single vote. The track that eventually won was "I Know It's Over" by The Smiths. This track will now progress through to Round 2. The three tracks eliminated at this early stage of the tournament are 'Lover, You Should Have Come Over' by the late Jeff Buckley, 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother' by The Hollies and 'Where Did You Sleep Last Night' the unplugged cover by the brilliant Nirvana.

Songs Background - Young wrote this track 'Philadelphia' for the 1993 Jonathan Demme directed film of the same name. Demme originally asked Neil Young to write an opening track to the film. Six weeks later Young sent him over a tape, "We were crying the first time we heard it. I went : 'Oh.my god, Neil Young trusts this movie more than I do' said Demme in an interview regards the song.

The melancholic nature of Young's contribution led Demme to switch the song to the ending of the film, rather than the opening sequence.

Songs Background - 'Forbidden Colours' is a 1983 song written by David Sylvian and Ryuichi Sakamoto. The song is the vocal version of the theme from the film 'Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence'. The title of the song is taken from Japanese writer Yukio Mishima's 1953 novel 'Forbidden Colours' , although not directly related to the film, both works include exploration of supressed homosexual urges, set during a Japanese concentration camp, housing British POW's during WWII.
