Oban Tournament - Saturday 13th July 11am-4pm

Our Reserves will take part in this tournament once again.

I hope we send Aird, Loemba etc to play in it. Ridiculous they have picked up a wage for nothing.

I see you’ve said that a few times however, happens if they get injured, we’re stuck with them?

Re: Oban Tournament - Saturday 13th July 11am-4pm

Loemba posted on his Instagram a couple of days ago a video of him and Aird in the new Utd training gear on bikes. Then yesterday he posted a picture of the St Andrews Uni building from the pitch so it looks like they might be training with the reserves?

Both seem very happy just to be picking up a wage for doing nothing. Aird seems to be more interested in being STAUNCH as fuck than actually finding a new club to be honest. Silver lining for him if he has a season not involved on a Saturday he'll be able to get to all the Rangers games.

As it stands we are stuck with them anyway.

May as well get them playing. And use any possible match they can play in as a shop window.

Tbf don’t really think they can be blamed for taking a wage they were offered. Previous regime to blame not them.

Agree. It would be great to get them off the books though.

Of course you cant blame them. But Aird is 24 or something? You would think he'd want to be playing week-in-week-out so he can get back into the Canada squad etc.

Maybe apply ball & chain as further punishment?

Who's 'etc' btw?

True but looking at his career trajectory and current status, we are the pinnacle of what he is likely to be able to earn so any move is almost certainly going to require a fairly significant pay cut. From a playing point of view he should leave but from a financially point of view it’s a no brained for him to stick around.

Rabitsch I’m assuming but am I right in thinking he hasn’t shown up to pre-season training? Not sure if he’s maybe back on the hunt for a club on the continent?

Re: Oban Tournament - Saturday 13th July 11am-4pm

All in my opinion.....

We offered them a contract, they signed it and have every right to take their money every week. They can't get more talent (although they can work to improve but we don't know that they aren't). Some players just don't work out at a club...as for Aird - the new manager hasn't taken to him, whereas he was top of the assist league for our team prior to that. (Likewise, McMullan was all but out the door under shabba but now finds himself as an important part of the squad)

Personally, if they aren't fancied by the manager and don't have a future here, i don't want them anywhere near our first team or youths. If they aren't playing, theres a good chance they will have a poor attitude. The youngsters need to be surrounded by leaders and good examples - not by those who may have a grudge against the club. The group should be a tight knit one - not dotted with different factions.

The only ways in which they will leave is if we offer them a package or if they find another club. As it is, these sort of players usually move near the end of the transfer window - clubs hoping that they won't have to pay them off....

Fingers crossed that Ray Mckinnon is looking for a winger at Falkirk, loemba heads back to a French or Belgian lower league team and rabbitsch just leaves.

'Ball and Chain' hahahahaha. Smedz you really are something else at times mate.

They are footballers. I want them to simply play football for us for the (handsome) wage they are paid.

They're hardly being sent down the mines ffs.

No not their fault.

But any player worth their salt and with a shred of professional dignity would be approaching their Manager and asking to at the very least show what they can do in training.

Loemba hasn't kicked a ball for a year and hasn't even been training. How does the guy possibly expect to get a move in his current situation?

In fact after seeing the photo of Aird doing the rounds today, fucking right i'd be sending him to Oban. And i'd make him play every fucking single minute.

At an orange March wearing a govan proddy boys shirt.

To me, definitely in poor taste and I wouldn't expect a footballer of dundee united to be getting involved in that kind of nonsense.....likewise it's not illegal and it doesnt mean he is peddling religious intolerance

Re: Oban Tournament - Saturday 13th July 11am-4pm

I see it's reported we narrowly missed out on retaining the Trophy due to a last min goal conceded v Accies so we lost out on goal difference.

Average age of the squad was 17.2 years old and included Craig Moore age 13, Kerr Smith age 14 and Lennon Walker age 15 all featuring.
