Can only guess that by some means, we've managed to offer a better deal to Shankland than Hull etc. Have to thank our Chairman for this very welcome move.

A fantastic signing which I am delighted about, I do admit that I was doubtful it would happen but delighted to be proved wrong.

I thought the unveiling video was very good as well and give credit tor those who put it together.

Great signing in shankland.

Hope the rumours of gauld are true although not too sure what player we are to expect back?...dont want to be too negative but how has he actually got on last few years? And how did he perform at hibs? Hope that if he does sign its another massive plus although we still have a problem with players coming back to the club and not being able to live up to the player they left as.

He is definitely a better player now than when he left us. He's had horrific luck since going over there. Spent his first season in the B team and did well. Made a couple of first team apps too.

First loan in 2nd season and was cut short after he helped Setubal knock Sporting out of the cup! Man of the Match performance. Chucked back into their B team.

3rd season went on loan to Aves, took a while to get into the team as they changed manager then got around 20 games under his belt there.

4th season he is sent back out loan to Farense and played about 15 times before getting a wee injury. Then went to Hibs and got injured after about 6 games (in which all Hibs fans seemed to agree he was quality).

Looks like that’s the end of that one then.

Think a move back here would be better for Gauld and his future in the long term. All these moves to Non-descript Portuguese teams isn’t going to do his international chances any good. Think he’d do well to come back here for a couple of years and get his name back in the picture then get a good move down south, every year he spends in Portugal is another year spent in anonymity as far as the eyes of British football is concerned.
