Re: African Cup of Nations 2019

A goalless draw it finishes, Mauritania the better side in the first half and should have been in front.

In the second half Tunisia was better and had some decent chances but overall was unconvincing.

Re: African Cup of Nations 2019

That is the round of 16 just underway with the first match being Morocco v Benin.

A goalless 7 minutes although Morocco was just denied by a decent save by the Benin keeper.

Re: African Cup of Nations 2019

Morocco have looked the better so far in the first 22-23 minutes even if chance wise maybe only a couple of chances of note.

Benin look happy to frustrate the Moroccans and try to get forward on the break which could be dangerous, Morocco's slow pace probably suits Benin so far.

It remains 0-0.

Re: African Cup of Nations 2019

A goalless first half which is no surprise, although Morocco have had a few decent chances.

Benin have shown little ambition in an attacking sense and in fact have had the ref tell them to give up on time wasting on a few occasions from the 35th  minute.

Benin take a shock lead 9 minutes or so after half time.  Morocco do not defend a corner properly and are punished, could a shock result be on the way.

Morocco equalise after a bad defensive mistake by Benin, they have to go on  and win this game now you would imagine.

Re: African Cup of Nations 2019

Penalty to Morocco in the final seconds of injury time.

Ziyech to take, he misses and sends the penalty against the post and the full time whistle sounds.

Extra time needed 1-1 full time.

1-1 half time in extra time with Benin down to 10 men.  The second half of extra half has  just kicked off a couple minutes ago.

A poor pass in midfield by Uganda intercepted by Senegal who break forward and Sadio Mane scores  to give them the lead.

Re: African Cup of Nations 2019

Senegal are also through with a 1-0 win over Uganda however I was unable to see much of the game so it would not be fair to comment on either team to much.  The goal which I saw resulted from a sloppy Uganda pass which was intercepted by Senegal.

Re: African Cup of Nations 2019

Nigeria leading Cameroon 3-2 in what has looked an entertaining match, once again i have unfortunately not seen it in full especially the first half which I saw bits and pieces off.

From what I have seen Nigeria have probably deserved to be in  front,  there have been decision in  this game which probably would be reversed if VAR was in use.

Apparently VAR comes into effect from the quarter finals however.

Re: African Cup of Nations 2019

Tonight saw an excellent 1-0 win for South Africa over Egypt in Cairo, it was an excellent performance and a deserved win for them.

While Egypt had opportunities I thought they were not that great tonight.

Egypt were shite. Panic striken style throughout the team. Long hopefull balls tae naecunt, giving the ball away so easily when mattered and caught on the counter.

Wanted Egypt to win but fairplay to SA.

Unfortunately with not seeing either of today's games live it will be inappropriate to comment on either of them.

I will be watching tomorrow's two games though.

Re: African Cup of Nations 2019

From what I have seen which is from about 24 minutes onwards Senegal have looked the better side and more likely to break the deadlock.

The guy who fired wide after going past the Tunisia keeper is guilty of wasting the best of the chances I have seen, I can not think of anything that Tunisia have created.

Tunisia have looked better in the second half, however Senegal have looked dangerous on a couple occasions on the counter attack.

The ref has been extremely lenient though.

Tunisia have been awarded a penalty for handball.

Horrific penalty and very easily saved by the Senegal keeper.

Re: African Cup of Nations 2019

Senegal now have a penalty after a rather stupid tackle in the box.

Delay in it being taken, now everyone is ready.

A good save from the Tunisian keeper and the result is a corner.

Re: African Cup of Nations 2019

1-0 Senegal after the keeper makes a complete mess of trying to punch a cross clear. The ball hits a Tunisia defender and finds the net for an og.
