TEKEL TOWERS

Yes, i joined ages ago when TT first opened. I never posted mainly because i felt the whole forum culture has been ruined by trolls. Banter is banter, but when it goes beyond that and retorts to verbal abuse and bullying, it's just not for me.

Had some great times on forums, some nights - the forums were more enjoyment than the actual games! Personally though, a 'veiled' threat which was passed through a friend of a friend made me give up hope for these places. When a fellow fan starts dishing out violent/aggressive threats, veiled or otherwise, then it's time to move on...

It wasn't here though, it was another site. (I'm sure some will have seen those posts dating back about 3 years, also with other photo's of where certain fans could normally be seen sitting)
It's bad enough Old Firm fans ruining every single decent thread on t'internet, but when a so-called United fan starts goading his own supporters, that was it - i'd had enough.

Here seems decent, and much like what a forum should be. That's why i rejoined; it's relaxed/light-hearted fun, and a place to pass on information that's current, or just chat about some great memories we've all had.
The beauty of this site is the simplicity. I know there's an index of other boards, but it's just the United page i'm interested in so there could be a bit more United related threads 'stick'ied' in here???

I'd say to improve relations with posters that are 'absent', how about sticky'ing a United related competitions/memorabilia page with some prizes on offer, even just a few quid donated to UfK or The Mike Barile Statue Fund? I know fans normally donate to these great causes anyway, but it's the pedestal mentality isn't it!
Pretty sure Bennyboy would be an ample patron for that! (You never seemed to make that gent welcome)
Also, Pat Reilly could start his own stories/articles thread, with his own slant on the past and present and i'm sure that would spark real interest - just like it did with that article regarding that famous American player we signed, and his grandfather! (Can't remember his name???)
Also, sticky a banter thread. Seems a touchy thing these days but i'd happily take control of the day-to-day running of the enterprise as i'm obviously the most qualified. (I'd just want a 90% cut of the profits)

Lastly, i know that there is an issue with memes, but heck, that would certainly make an addition to any much needed banter in here. A memes sticky???nah?

Just a few ideas from me, considering the memes thing i suppose you could all just join twitter, but should you not be discouraging that if you want to make yourself famous?
Whatever the outcome, best of luck with the site...
(Avoid United XI's, polls and calls for sacking managers because they wear cardigans. That's what EastFitba' is for and it's already been done to death...)

Hi DTT,

Quite a lot for me to digest there, but I will try to respond to some of your main points.

Firstly (and most importantly) welcome to the Forum and , like everyone else on here, I hope you enjoy the site and find it a place of solace with likeminded souls at times and just a place to share Utd content and have a laugh, most other times.

Secondly, it is disappointing to hear that a threat was made to you (3rd hand or otherwise) from a fellow Arab. Unfortunately drink and football Forums aren't always a good mixture. I too have had abuse away from the Forum, via text message (whilst I was sat down at a meal for a family occasion). Phoned the person the next day when I had the chance and the old excuse about drinking 'too much' was relayed back to me. Bit of a cop-out really, but apology was accepted and you move on. I find most people who give abuse on Forums or social media are drunk and might even have some sort of 'thing' going on in their own life and just want to lash out at someone. In most cases the next day they don't feel the same way. Upshot of it all is (for me), not to let such poor form put you off from posting away about Utd, because the vast majority of lads on here (and elsewhere) are all good boys. Such instances are few and far between.

I appreciate all your ideas but if i'm honest I am not a fan of too many 'sticky's' on the Forum. I've only ever pinned the threads up the top that I felt were absolutely necessary. I guess I just like the simplicity and conciseness of the Forum (as you alluded to yourself). Anymore and the board just looks messy imo.

The idea of giving prizes out for competitions. Who is supplying these prizes mate? I hope you don't mean me? 😂

On Forum Users creating their own threads. Go for it!! Anyone can do what they want on here in that regard.

Previously Pat Reilly ran (for a short time) a very enjoyable 'Where Are They Now?' type Utd thread in pictures (I forget the actual thread name now). And obviously guys like Bowers run their own 'Fan Display' threads regularly. Sieb22 done movie Quiz competitions (miss him on here). Arabchanter does his excellent 'Albums You Must Hear Before You Die' thread. Etc etc etc.

My point is you guys can do what you want on here.

P.s. BennyBoy's posts are always well received on here imo (by me anyway). Doesn't post often but when he does it's normally worth reading.

P.p.s Utd XI's and polls will continue on here mate, sorry.
