Yeah he re-signed with them on a 1-year deal last summer.

The only development fee for a now out of contract youngster I can think of is Chris Cadden of Motherwell with a £400k figure I believe it is. Undoubtedly there will be other younger players that will apply to though although none spring to mind.
I would doubt that United would be interested although I had seen rumours about him but I doubt there was any truth in them.

I thought he was still under contract for a year, for some reason.
If he's available for free, that's even better.
Guess theres a wee development fee although hes not been at ayr long - so maybe minimal.
I get confused with the rules - I thought it was under 24s but sure fraser went at 23?

He’s only been at Ayr for a couple of years so if anyone was due a fee for him I’d assume it’d be Aberdeen?

No one is due a fee for him.

Mehmet gets chance to join club according to the sun. Surely just giving him training facilities....
If he wasnt good enough at christmas, he surely cant be good enough now?

we should not be signing Mehmet at all.
experience needed.

I’d be fine with us bringing Mehmet back. Unless a bid comes in, I’m assuming we’re still going into the season with Siegrist as number 1. Deniz is a reliable 2nd choice who I imagine won’t cost us an awful lot in wages and seems to be a likeable character in the dressing room, so won’t cause too many problems when he’s not playing. Better the devil you know.

I don't think I would disagree to much with that as I thought Deniz was solid when given a chance and as a back up here is not a bad option.
On the other hand if better option is to become available not just as back up but as a first choice then I would take that up and have Seigrist as back up again and let Deniz go elsewhere.

Agreed. Scott Fox has been mentioned, the type of experience we need.

Ayr fam on P and B claiming shankland training with us tomorrow

So it would seem one of the trialists is indeed Deniz Mehmet.
I'm ok with giving him a chance to prove he's completely over his injury.
He's experienced enough and a decent Goalie imo.
Letting him go in January for Laidlaw, didn't really make any sense.

Doubt that will happen, tbh. How and why would an Ayr fan know this, for starters?

As I recall, Deniz was still in the club flat in late March, and contemplating a short term deal with United just prior to going to QoS. Some boys with closer connections to the club might be able to confirm or rubbish this, but it's clear in my mind that he almost re-signed before going to Dumfries.

Agree if Neilson liked him he should have kept him earlier this year. Seems silly.
I think we should be trying to get better than Mehmet and Siegrist.

Frans here to stay
To be fair he did very little wrong during his time holding down a first team place last season.
Or are my tts's being overpowered in this strong morning sun?

There’s truth in this Shankland story. We’ve made him a big offer to come here, clubs down south have cooled their interest in him, we’re hopeful but could still be beaten at the post if one of these clubs make a late move. There’s every chance he comes here though.
Also, signing Shankland won’t stop us trying to get Safranko back, we want them both, but Aalborg will have to be realistic with their price and drop it considerably for us to deal.

Honestly if we signed Pav and Shankland there is zero excuse for us not to have the title wrapped up by March. Zero.
Although I still feel like even signing 1 of them is unlikely. We can hope...

That Agent Scotland chancer was saying this on Twitter. Hmmm.

Does anyone else have a nagging feeling that Shankland might’ve just gone through one of those periods in the first half of of the season just finished where he was riding the momentum of his excellent league one season and his confidence was so sky high that everything he touched turned to gold, but he might not be as good as his goal scoring numbers suggest and he could end up being a bit of a bust and struggle to reach double figures?
I think signing him would be a great coup for us and I’d be delighted if it happened but I can’t knock this slight worry.

No worries for me. You can say that for any signing thats been made.

I must confess these were my thoughts behind the opening post in 'Prolific strikers...'
