I do give a shit, this should have been done years ago without fans fund raising for it.
While MB is involved and they’re planning a statue with no resemblance to Jim I can’t justify donating.

I’d like to think there will be a bucket collection at our home play off game(s)
Our biggest crowds & the last chances to get a good whack in, for a while.

I think you've hit the nail on the head tbh. It's a bit like the 'Ehm no goin back' brigade who have rattled off about a dozen different excuses (Ray, Thompson, Csaba, Mike Martin etc) but are still not going to games. The reality is these people don't give a fuck about Utd and see it as a passive experience to be entertained without being willing to put up with the highs and lows. Cunts like that should fuck off to watch Man City, probably more to their tastes.
You could also apply this logic to the reason why there is still only about 600 who have joined the Foundation which is piss poor even compared to clubs like St Mirren and Motherwell. It's like an ever-declining pool of people are being repeatedly asked to dig into their pockets for the club, Foundation, the statue etc. It is unsustainable the longer we stay in this god-forsaken league. The only way it will change is to get promoted asap.

Great post. Agree 100%. I honestly also can't understand why more folks don't join the Foundation.

Thanks to your support, we have £35,817 received and pledged (June, 2019) which takes us to 50% of our target.
Jim McLean’s family have been fully involved in discussions
about the statue.
Alan Herriot, our sculptor, is finalising the maquette (600mm) of the statue based on revisions to drawings which have been shown to fans.
The maquette will be cast and brought to Tannadice so that fans can soon see how the statue will look.
We have offers from local companies and Dundee United
(Peter Carmichael, Stewart Jamieson, Dean Milne) for help with the foundation and groundworks.
Our target date is spring 2020.

Over 530 individual donations have been made through Just Giving or directly, including through the DUFC shop.
To all of the above, our warmest thanks. A record is being kept of all donations.

The total must be touching or over 50k by now?
The steering group have been going to update the total publicly for 2 weeks now without doing so but one of them has posted on facebook earlier about this.
Over 7k was raised at a golf day a few weeks back and other fundraising stuff outwith the total on the just giving page is to be added.
With things still to happen it is not far away.

Where is it to go? Rename the East stand in his honour, the Duncan Ferguson Stand (his sale paid for it) or the 1983 Stand or whatever, and situate the statue near to it..

i believe it was to go at the top of the East stand ramp, lit up at night so it can be seen from the bottom of ramp through the locked gates. Not sure if this is still the case?
Agree about renaming the stand and calling it the Jim McLean stand. More so that the statue will be right outside it. I and many others have said for some time now that the East stand should have the Thompson name removed from it.

Should never have been called the Thompson stand in the first place.
