Arabs Away

Good day to you fellow Arabs.
I have a new book out: Arabs Away: A Celebration of Dundee United Supporters (please forgive the cheeky “advert” nature of this post).
It is a book all about you. It’s a celebration of Arabs leaving for games, at game and coming home from games. All the “great” venues, Arabs at The Ullevi, Old Trafford, Hampden . . . the Fairmuir clubby — the world’s great football places. And Gussie Park. 1983, 1987, 1994, 2010, they are all here.
There’s no football in it (or very little) just pix of Arabs. It is impossible to go through the pages without saying, “I ken him, and him, and I ken a’ o’ them tae!”
The pix have lain in the archives for years, decades sometimes, unloved and unlooked-at.
It is £12.99 and available from dcthomsonshop.co.uk or if you’re ever in the toon, come into DCT’s Meadowside office in Albert Square (through the revolving doors). It’ll go on sale at the club shop soon, too.
Thanks.

Re: Arabs Away

Hi again fellow Arabs.
We’re having a launch event for the book at the DC Thomson building in Dundee, on May 9, at 5.30pm. Would any of you fine people care to come along? It is free, but requires registration so we can keep an eye on numbers. There’s a free beer or glass of wine on arrival and signed copies of the book for sale. And there will be me blethering about the book…and international celebrities like Tam Duthie….
PM me if you want a link to the registration.
I hope to see you there.
Shed rule.

Bowers, there are ill-formed (and maybe daft) ideas for more books but not another one exactly like this. I do have plenty more material though, indeed it was very difficult to decide which photos to use. But I reckon it would be a rip-off to put out a part 2 when I could have just added pages to the original book......although that would have meant, obviously, that the price of the book would have gone up. We tried hard to keep it affordable, softback instead of hardback, etc. I think there are also plans to put up a lot of the "missing" pix on a website so Arabs can see them. I'll let you know when/if that happens.
